born without thryoid but does it affect your mental health?

I was born without a thryoid as well,  I won't bore you with all the details but i almost died because doctors in 85 were just so stunned to see how someone could be born without this so called "important gland"; anyways i have a friend who also has thryoid problems, but what is really weird is i dont really fit in with many people. To me other people just perpetuate the common stereotypes of society, and i want to be my own person...my friend is the same way we see the world the same way and have many things in common even though we grew up in completely different atmospheres and schools. I am sort of morbid and sadistic, I got into a film school in LA for writing/directing horror films from watching them since the age of 7.  I just think that it affects our mind in a huge way because when im on my meds i'm normal but when they are not at the appropriate level i'm paranoid and i see stuff and hear things so maybe it's my family history or society (wow the nature vs nurture theory) Anyways long story short does anyone else here have a more rational way of looking at society without having to be like everyone else? I am a *****, but i'm usually always right, and in the end thats all that matters. intelligence triumphs over beauty. feeling a little like voltaire or freud with the quoting:)

This discussion is related to i was born without a THYROID GLAND, WAS ANY ONE ELSE BORN without one?.

My daughter is nine and also born without a thyroid gland. Stella was answering the previous post, as she didn't notice the date. You have posted at the bottom of an old thread. You would get more response if you began a new post about your issues. Are you off your thyroid medication due to no insurance? If so, you must find a way to get back on your meds ASAP. You must find a clinic or call a family member for help with this. When you have no gland, you will feel the effects of no medication very quickly! This is very dangerous for you! What med have you been using in the past? Life can be good and you can be well if your condition is managed correctly. However if you don't stay on meds consistenly and keep your thyroid hormone levels consistent, you will be very sick w/hypothyroidism. You do know that comma and death are the ultimate consequence of someone without a thyroid gland going without their thyroid replacement medication for an extended length of time? There is no reason  that people w/out thyroid glands cannot have long, healthy and happy lives with children! Loss of hair, sluggishness and weight gain are all consequences of not having enough available thyroid hormone in your body (cellular) for it to function properly. This effects metabolism, organ function, brain function etc. Virtually everything!!! As a mom who has a daughter w/the same condition as you, I am insisting that you find a way to take care of this immediatly! Please post back ASAP as I am very worried about you!

the moods with unbalanced thyroid are very irrectic and unstable. Most of the time you feel you are saying or doing odd things but really you aren't as bad as you think.

Brain fog and concentration are very common with low thyroid.

You can get a wealth of information if you google bi polar and thyroid disease. You will really see the pattern of how this diagnoises relates to thyroid disease./
