sulphur burps

I have sulphur burps, but no vomiting; it usually last for 1 to 3 days. The one thing I have noticed is that I only get sulphur burps after eating eggs. It can be in potato salad, scrabbled, hard boiled or cooked any other way. Is this true of everyone else?

This discussion is related to Sulfur / Rotten Egg Burps, followed by throwing up.

I thought I was the only person who suffered with this? I had my first episode a few years ago, having eaten a Salad Nicoise and within four hours, I had the most awful feeling of doom, hot and cold sweats, intense nausea and then the dreaded "Sulphur Burps", made worse for the fact these started 4hrs into a 12hr flight!
These symptoms were diagnosed as Salmonella Poisoning from The Eggs I had eaten at Heathrow, after getting over this bout, I have avoided eggs there after.
On Sunday, I had gone out to lunch, and had a Sald Buffet, with the usual things of Onions and Tuna Mayo etc, after eating lunch, I had almost the same feeling of doom, a feeling of total heaviness in the stomach and feelings of very bad trapped wind.
Monday saw the start of the "Sulphur Burps", these lasted all day, and were that bad at times, they knocked me sick, all day I had the feeling of heaviness and bloating in the stomach and the feeling that I could not tolerate eating anything else.
I took two Motillium tablets, followed by Gaviscon Advance, and slept very well through the nite, so-much-so, I had not burped for 12hrs, but was still very gassy, today, whilst I feel a bit better, I no longer have these sulphur burps, but still feel a slight heaviness in the stomach.
I wondered therefore, if anyone else has this problem after Tuna Mayonnaise? I think this is what has upset me, as I have had "Mild" bouts after having Tuna Mayo, if it is mixed with too much mayo, which is why I either prefer to make it myself, or have it plain.
I find the symptoms distressing and very embarrasing, and  to note, I also have accompanied center right back ache with this too, I have looked this up, and one of the reasons could be the intestinal gas that is causing it, but non the less, it's another symptom on top of these current ones, I can do well without.
This has now put me off Tuna Mayo all together, I will either make it myself, or have plain Tuna from now on, I think too much mayo does not help, and I also suffer with IBS, so these symptoms further aggrevate, so a vicious circle all around.

I have had two scary episodes of having endless diarrhea, vomiting, horrible headache, along with burping what tasted like greasy rotten eggs.  The first episode lasted 5 to 7 days.  This last episode lasted 24 hours, which I am currently recovering from it.

In both cases, I was self treating for a bladder infection, taking vitamin C and drinking non-stop amounts of diet Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice.  Two main ingredients of diet Cranberry Juice are Red Dye #40 and Sucralose, otherwise known as Splenda.  High doses of Splenda, can cause migraines and gastrointestinal issues.  Here is a link discussing the dangers of Splenda in high doses.  http://www.karlloren.com/Diabetes/p40e.htm.

Red dye #40 has it's own series of side effects, including causing migraines and cancer.  Here is a link discussing some of it's issues.  http://www.livestrong.com/article/487389-harmful-effects-of-red-food-coloring/

My first go around with this nastiness, I had kept drinking the diet cranberry juice during the entire episode, because I had bad bladder and possibly kidney infection.  I was downing the juice as fast as I could urinate it out.  When I ran out of cranberry juice, started getting better.

This go around, as soon as I got sick, I couldn't hold down any juice or water or anything.  It took approximately 8 hours for the majority of it to work out of my system.  I still have a horrible headache and my right side is hurting, but that could be caused by the yellow gatorade I have been drinking, which is chalk full of yellow dye.

I know people think this is a huge joke, but most of what we eat is poisonous.  You might want to take a look at all of the foods you eat to see if they contain Splenda, (Sucralose), and red dye #40.  You might be surprised to know how many foods contain one or both of these.

I really good site to start learning about the poisons in your food is:  www.mercola.com.  Research, research, research...Most doctors are now pharmacists and do not have the knowledge base to help you with your health issues.  It is not their fault; it is just how it is.  Remember knowledge is power - just because the FDA tells you it is safe, doesn't mean it is.

Just thought I should share, I hope this helps some of you.

Hey Sue,

I'm Brian, I've been suffering from "sulphur burps" for over 15 years and have other symptoms too.  I just recently realized that I'm not alone when it comes to this problem and so far my research has show that I most likely have a parasitic infection called Giardia which thankfully is not lethal.  Look it up it may be useful to you.  Hang in there!
