Will a pinched nerve have all the same symptoms as MS,Parkinson's

I had a C5 diskectomy Feb.'06 and I have been in misery ever since and actually hurt worse now than I did.The bad thing @ that is I have been told that I never even needed the surgery by 2 different docs. a yr. or two after surgery.Lost ins. for a yr.(husband changed jobs),and I couldn't even go.Had to go to some ER's for the pain was through the roof.I have been doing research on my symptoms and found that they match MS,Parkinson's and postherpedic neuralgia.Could it be possible that the docs are right @ the screw and that is what is causing all of my problems or is it possible I have one of these diseases?I am going back to where I had surgery the 13,I am bringing back up(mom, dad, hubby and youngest son) w/me.They are going to be there to tell him exactly what I am going through.I am not leaving until I feel satisfied that this time they are going to be finding and diagnosing and hopefully(successfully fixing me). A lot of yall had a C5 diskectomy and I am having the same symptoms you are. If you know which direction that I neen to go, please let me know...Thank you so much for any help,Karen

Hey kittyluv1,
I am sorry it has taken me so long. It's been a rough and busy wk.These are the findings from one of  the docs.:

A butterfly prosthesis was placed in her cervical spine with two screws. One screw was penetrating one of the right foramina affecting the drachial nerve. It left long enough, this could lead to further damage of the spinal cord. I advise her that I could help her locally if she would get the prosthesis removed.

I have been stuck for over a yr. w/out ins., but thank God have it now. I haven't been able to go back to my Neuro.because of insurance issues. The doc. who sent me this leter was on Nov. 12th,2008. Sometimes we just have to suffer a little bit more, but I can't wait.I go in the morning back to Neuro.
Tell me, if you got a letter like this one, what would you do? I hope I am doing the right thing.I just want to get well. I hate to go back to the place that made me suffer for 3+ yrs.I am literally scared to go back in for surgery. Me being a singer, it was a chance to have the surgery the first time because I could have lost my voice. It is such a part of me...it is me. I love to write and sing. I used to play the guitar, but my hands aren't to proficient now a days. This is what the same doc.above also said:

EXAM:Chiropractic, Orthopedic & Neurological testing
AYNOMETER: Grip on right hand 10 lbs., left 25 lbs.( they suppose to be 30 lbs.)
MOTION:Cervical Lordosis, approximately 50%loss in reange of motion, or grade 2.

HISTORY:
MS. Elmor  was invovled in a motor vehicle accident in 1995. She had seen a Doctor of Chiropractic 5-7 times, but did not continue with treatments even though she was showing improvement.
In 2003, Ms. Elmore began to have severe pain in her head, neck, and arms. She saw a Medical Doctor who took x-rays finding straightening of the normal lordotic curvature. Surgery was performed.

So, what do you think?Get back to me...Please...I am sorry..I haven't even asked how you were. I hope you've had a good day and maybe tomorrow will even be better for both of us. I hope I just get good news. Maybe I just have something that can be fixed. That is all we ever pray for .We just take it a day at a time. Thanks for being there. It is nice to have sombody to talk to @ all this.
Keep you in my prayers...Karen

Did you have a fusion procedure at C5-C6?  What are the doctors diagnosing in reference to the "screw" problem?  Are they saying that a portion of the hardware has loosened and created pressure on an adjacent nerve?  What are the clinical findings on x-ray and MRI?
If you had a fusion procedure, hardware failure is a risk, but most likely to occur when the bones fail to fuse completely and the hardware is insufficient to maintain the stability of your cervical spine.
I do not believe that you have MS or Parkinson's as these diseases have many other symptoms which could more easily be diagnosed and treated with no surgery involved.
Postherpetic neuralgia usually means that you  have had a systemic infection of some type resulting in this particular pain syndrome.(herpes zoster or shingles).
Hopefully you will receive more definitive diagnosis of your condition at the time of your followup visit on the 13th.  If it is hardware failure, the usual approach is another surgery to repair the fusion and replace the hardware if necessary.  The fact that your surgery was done in 2006 could also mean that your symptoms could be related to further degenerative changes in other disc levels adjacent to the prior surgery.  Having the support of your family will be very beneficial in making decisions regarding any additional treatment being recommended.
