Suboxone

Today I kept my doctors appointment and he put me on suboxone.  It has been such a blessing for me.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to go that route or not but my cravings were so bad I decided to keep my appointment.  It was a good thing that I did because my blood pressure was 170/110 and my heart was beating so hard that it felt like I was going to come right out of my chest.  After I took 16mg of sub. my pressure went down to 140/95.  I went cold turkey since Thursday and though the physical symptoms were geting better the cravings were geting really bad.  Also the anxiety.

The differance between this morning and this afternoon is like night and day.  I feel GOOD!!!!!  All cravings are gone and I no longer have that anxious, pounding heart feeling.  The doctor also gave me some Ambien CR for sleep.  I just hope and pray that I made the right choice.  I read all I could on Sub. and weighed the pro's and con's.

So, today is the first day that I really feel alive again.  Even all my depression is gone.  I nguess that time will tell.  Hope everyone had a good day today.

Buprenorphine is incredibly effective for coming off opiates. Just make sure you go AT LEAST 24 hours without any opiates (longer with Methadone) before taking any Bupe, otherwise it will kick you straight into withdrawals. You need to be in the early stages of w/d BEFORE you start on the Bupe. You can start at around 12mg pd and get that down to 2mg in a couple of weeks without any discomfort. Then just taper off slowly...

Wow I am glad you're feeling better.  I have seen alot of people talking about Sub on here and I didn't know alot about it, so I just did a little research, and it sounds good.  I think when I decide to quit, that'll definitely be the route I take.  Well, good luck with it, you sound like you are doing great.  Congrats!

Just make sure you taper and don't stay on it too long.. There are way more stories of people getting hooked on this stuff than there are people getting off of it and using it correctly for detox..

16mgs in a really high dose to start someone who had already had 5 days off pills.. Hope it goes well for you... Be careful this stuff is stronger than it makes you feel... people have hellish WD's off of 2mgs...

I was scared to read your post, and after i did i was so relieved. I'm so glad you are feeling better. Every now and then I will hear bad stuff about it. It scares the s--- out of me. I've heard bad stories about getting off. But thus far it has been a blessin for and numerous others. I'm sooooooo glad you feel better. It sounds like the timing coulden't have been any better for you to jump on. Again i'm very happy you are feeling better.                       Cathy

I am so glad that they came up with an answer to w/d's other than methadone! I myself am on methadone and believe me if I had insurance, I would get the suboxone. I missed the clinic today and im sick as hell! im even too lazy to take a shower. just thought i'd put my 2 cents in! Tammy
