to bkwrm.. Your addiction specialists is correct.. I had know a few that have had a od.. one of the biggest problems is when cutting.. if a junkie is use to a certain grade that is cut a lot and then runs across some that is not. they do the amount they are accustom to and od.. or quit for awhile and go back and try to bang down what they were doing before they quit.. it is all very sad..
Teko.. I'm very sorry for the tragedy that has befallen your family and the wonderful and innocent children.. I pray they find healing and forgive the actions of there mother as she was not in her true mind or spirit.. warmly lesa
My experience with heroin was that it left me without a soul. I didn't think I would ever feel normal or care about everyday things again. It took months clean before I could really care about anything. For someone to swear on someone's life or whatever is just the tip of the iceberg.
Just a sobering statistic (my addiction specialist told me this so I haven't researched it myself), but I heard that if a person is an IV Heroin user for 1 year, they have a 1 in 10 chance of dying from a Heroin related reason. That seems high to me, but the guy has an MD and a specialty in Addiction something or other, so either he was trying to scare me or it's true. Just be careful. It's way too ******* easy to OD and die on Heroin.
Many thanks for that my friend........Im truly sorry to read of this sad outcome, you and your family must be devestated.........sincere best wishes for the future...George
My dil was a heroin addict and when she was not using, was the sweetest thing on the planet. When she was, she was a liar, a cheat, an unfit mother and wife and basically a lousy person! So, I would say yes, it seems to go hand in hand depending on the length and depth of the addiction. She liked em and did not want to go off of it. She died leaving 5 children without a mother, trying to get her fix! She literally gave her life for her drugs and ruined the life of so many more.
Thanks for taking the time to post your helpful comments .
Congratulations on 'breaking free'.......stay strong.........George.
Dishonesty is a common characteristic in addiction. The best thing you can do is encourage her to get help for her addiction. It's obviously grown beyond her control. Addiction changes the way the brain operates and sometimes people say things they would not normally say to please their own addictions.
as as ex Heroin addict Probably.. not all junkies can hold up to any kind of true morals.. a junkie of 20 years.. i believe would very easily.. having guns pulled on you stealing and the many other deprivations you go through.. you tend loose any moral gauge you may once of had.. lesa
I am also a heroin addict (clean for 69 days) and I myself have a 2 yr old daughter and I have to say my lies may have been pretty extensive to get drugs but no I do not think I have ever swore on my daughters life FOR ANY REASON!!! Drugs or not I don't see how anyone would be immune to the severity of that statement. I will admit heroin does make you immune to alot but I always knew when I was lying and for what reason..good luck
