Anyone have any ideas for supper?

What should I make for supper? Anyone have any good recipes? It has to be somewhat kid friendly. My kids aren't to horribly picky.

Ground beef, skirt steak, chicken....whatever you have.
Cut up an onion, and or bell pepper, jalapeno, tomato, garlic, cumin, cilantro etc. You get the idea, cook it all in a skillet, when you get it tasteing the way you like it, set it to the side.

Butter a flour tortilla, throw it on a hot cast iron skillet, or a really hot rock, add sliced or grated cheese, add a spoonful of your mixture, fold it over and brown it on both sides.

Enjoy now or zap it later, you can't mess this up....and you can call it a  Quesadilla if you like!

Sounds great Mangee!! It would be a great Super Bowl dish! My daughter loves her chicken legs so this recipe is a must.

I'm more than happy to share. In fact Vicki, I will do the cooking. It's to late for tonight's supper so how's tomorrow at 6:00 sound?

Try this. You will love it.
You will need a ,"Slow cooker."

3lbs chicken drumettes
1cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup
1/4 cup soya sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon onion flakes
1/2 teaspoonprepared mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix brown sugar and flour well in a sauce pan
Mix all other ingredients well in a measuring cup or whatever.
Once mixed pour ingredients into sugar and flour and mix well.
Turn on heat on stove and stir saucepan until almost boiling.
Pour over drumettes in slow cooker and cover.
Cook on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 4-4 1/2 hours stirring occasionally to move drumettes around. It may be of interest to note that you can do this with chicken breasts that are cut into small squares as well.
You may also wish to adalter ingredients as to taste but this recipe is very tasty.
Happy cooking.

I've never had bbq chicken in the crock pot. What a great idea! I will definitely have to give that a try. Sounds great! You can never go wrong with the crock pot!

Yeah, my toe is screaming at me. It's crazy how a little toe can hurt so much. I was walking with a slight limp earlier but now the limp is a little more noticeable. Looking so forward to tomorrow morning when it will be hurting even worse. It's not nearly an injury that would warrant pain meds so I'll enjoy it with a smile.

Ouch!!  I do a lot of the cooking too.  I will say that the stuff my wife makes is way better than my stuff but she doesn't do it as often.  An easy meal I like is BBQ chicken in the crock pot.  I take breast, legs and thighs and toss em in the pot then dump in a couple bottles of steakhouse marinade.  Turn it out and wait.  I normally let it cook a good 5 hours or until I'm hungry.  Throw a potatoe or two in the nuker with a veggie and wa laa  a full happy belly.

Oh I know Addict! Trust me...I don't mind getting my chops busted at all! I actually pretty much expect it! I was laughing when I saw what you wrote!

Supper was good. Most around here put their grills away once winter hits. Not me. When the Bears played the Colts in the Super Bowl a few years back I fired up the smoker and spent all night smoking a pork butt. It was -6 out that night.

Vicki...you don't have to get dressed up since I will already have the heels and pink lace on.
I was barefoot. It happened when I got out of bed this morning. I had to take a leak pretty bad so I was hurrying into the bathroom and caught it on the door jam. I barely held it in after that!

Okay...do I have to get dressed to stop at your house?  Or can it be "come as you are"?

( LMAO...pardon the pun )   I'm going to hell...

So,what was on your feet when you broke your toe? Barefoot I guess?  Dangerous! Put some socks on Mister!

So walking around in my steel toed work boots all day was a no no?! I just can't bring myself to wear flip flops or sandals of any sorts. Never could. (but yet I wear pink laced undies)

When you find that group be sure to let me know!! You know, you could start it yourself. First stop is my house.

Pink lace undies???  What a coincidence!!

Yes,the meatloaf recipe you have sounds great. I would just mix the whole thing together and add a little cheese. I might do that now...

Nothing can be done for a broken little toe. Elevate it,take Motrin, wear flip flops...in the old days I'd take a handful of something and call it a day...that's it...sorry Brian...

I'd like to join a group where people come to your house and cook for ya! LOL  And Brian...Real men cook!!

Once again we were having a decent conversation and yet it does a complete 360. IBK with her mind in the gutter once again!!...lol

Uh oh Narla....please don't tell her I took it! My little toe is swollen so bad right now I can't even see that nail. Maybe I should just use black nail polish so it matches my toe. I wouldn't have to paint the little one.

That reminds me of a story. I have an Aunt that is hilarious. She use to always joke around and pull pranks on me. When I was 13 or so we went down to Florida for vacation and stayed at my Aunt and Uncle's house. One morning when I woke up I was brushing my teeth and noticed my fingernails were painted red. I went running through the house trying to find her because I knew it was her. I'm in the kitchen having my little talk with her. She was giggling pretty good. She then says, "your shoe's untied". I remember thinking, "what's she talking about, I don't have shoes on. I just woke up". I looked down anyways and my toe nails were painted a lovely light blue color! I still have to get her back for that one.

What's a picture of me in pink lace undies worth to you Narla?...lol

Lol....Believe it or not I do all the cooking and have for the entire time we have been married. (minus the heels and pearls...I just wear pink lace undies while in the kitchen) I would say my wife might cook a meal a month. I love cooking. I even sew the kids clothes if they get a tear. I have my own sewing machine..lol. And you know I can clean and do laundry. The Marine Corps was great at teaching that. So when I'm laid off I take care off all the woman work...lol...When my wife is off for the summer I do pull back on some of the stuff but when I do that it usually doesn't end up getting done!

My kids like all the things you mentioned. I guess when I meant kid friendly I just meant stuff that they wouldn't like. Things like vegetable stir fry or liver and onions. You know, things way out of the kids spectrum.

Meatloaf does sound good. My wife has a great meatloaf recipe. It's actually a stuffed meatloaf. If I remember right you just mix up the meatloaf as usual. In a skillet you melt like 4 tbs butter, onions, sliced mushrooms and simmer. Once the onions are no longer crunchy you then add like 4 pieces of bread that are torn up into nickel sized pieces. Just stir until you can no longer see the "white" of the bread. In a bread or loaf pan add half of the meatloaf mix, layer the bread mixture, then add the rest of the meatloaf mix. Bake as usual.

That's not the exact measurements but you get the idea. If anyone wants to try it let me know and I'll list the actual recipe. It is delicious!

I think tonight I may just have to dust off my heels and throw on some pearls just for you two. I'll post step by step pictures of me cooking in them. Although when I got up this morning I stubbed my little toe on the door jam. I my did that freakin hurt!! That was about 8 hours ago and it's almost completely black and blue now. Talk about painful. At least I now have an idea of what the Packers players will feel like come Sunday evening. Hey Vicki...nothing can be done about a broken toe, can it? I'm not positive it's broke but pretty sure it is. I can't walk without a slight limp. It's not like the pain is unbearable but it's bad. Since being off of the pain meds for quite some time I finally have my threshold for pain back. I'm guessing all you can do for a toe is ice but since I will be grilling out in the snow while wearing high heels I figure that will be close enough.

I was at the store a little bit ago and they had sirloin chops on sale so I just picked some of those up to throw on the grill. I just get sick of always cooking what seems to be the same old stuff. Maybe I'll start a group here on medhelp where we can all post our favorite recipes. There are millions of recipes out there but it seems like most stick to what they are use to. If we all posted our favorites we can all expand our horizons.

We're having meatloaf,wild rice,roasted brussels sprouts,and tossed salad.  It's easy.
Kids like meatloaf if it's not too dry. If it is,tons of ketchup helps. I like this meal. It's easy to prepare when you're barefoot and pregnant...and looking gorgeous while cooking...with heels on and pretty earrings...

So, you decided to come here and maybe take some suggestions from WOMEN??? We know nothing about sports but we sure can cook!! We belong in the kitchen, right??? HHMMM

But we won't talk about that here. We'll save that for Sunday afternoon!

So--kid friendly---How about Tacos? They can have fun choosing their own toppings. They never say no to breakfast for dinner---French Toast? And I don't think they would turn down Hamburgers. Chicken fingers and french fries come to mind--kids love that.

I don't know what you and your bride are going to do---none of that sounds appetizing to me!!! LOL
