Had to brag a lil

Im taking a quick break from work here to do a little bragging! Im so excited and today is a big day for me! I finally have something tangible to work on, to focus on, to keep my mind off other things and sharpen my mental skills. As some of you know, I've been doing proofreading for an accomplished published horror writer (he self publishes,  he hates big publishing houses//contracts/deadlines and works at his own pace,etc. Anyhow, last year he was so impressed with the work I did (I found tons of typos, grammatical attrocities, factual errors, fundamental faults in plot, poor sentence structuring etc) that he told me he wants me to be his sole editor (he fired his old one when he found out how all these things got past her and went to 1st printing!). Well, I at the time did not have the correct word program- only generic basic windows text reader that allows no editing and was fearful about this since my CD ROM drive is broken- couldnt load any new programs into the puter) Well I had a new copy of Microsoft Office sitting here and i finally had the brainstorm today to hitch up the old disc burner externally and see if it would load it..and it worked! So he sent me the top secret file today of his new book which is 3/4 done and told me to practice editing or whatnot. Ive never used this program mind you, but omg I crash coursed myself in less than a day and am now working on editing his book! I had to learn MS WORD particulary using Track CHanges (editing) and wow, I cant believe I learned it today, LOL. ( I also taught myself medical transcription in a week by getting books out on medical terminology and got hired immediately, lol)  Now if only I could figure out how to make the page #'s visible. They will not show up on the headers or footers and it wigs out when I try to format that for some reason. I will sit up all night if i need to in order to find the solution to this. Anyways, Im so excited to be doing this! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this type of work!!!!!! He is going to pay me more than his last editor too. Last year he sent me bonuses for all the work I did on proofing too =)    Im getting other potential jobs in this field now too as i put on online resume up for it. I hope the money starts rolling soon. There's nothing like getting paid good money for doing something you love, too!
Ok, Im going back to work now, but I just had to write ya guys and let you know Im doing so much better now and that dark spot in my life from the past 10 days or so ago is falling farther and farther behind in the review mirror..

thx pharma..i just got an invite today to enter a writing contest..1st prize is 1grand..I think I'll clean up one of my stories (sloppy grammar/awkward phrases) and see what happens, what the hell.

Good for you...I am thoroughly impressed with you.Amazing what a little ambition and a lot of work will accomplish.I am so thrilled for you and know you will do a good job.I just loved your writings.This is going to be a good year.
