18 days sobriety

Hey Gang! Happy Holiday Season!!!  I am going strong - 18 days now without any Vicodin and have not had any cravings for well over a week.  My energy has returned and my spirit has lifted - I really do feel great!!!  I know many folks out there are struggling with addiction - and believe me - I know how hard it is (I had a 10-12 Vicodin tablet a day habit) - but there is 'hope'.  It's a hard, jagged path to continue down, but once you get past some of the hurdles, it makes it all worth while.  For the first time in a long time I can actually 'remember' conversations I had or commitments I made - without wondering, 'was I high when I agreed to that?' - nor do I have the emotional roller-coaster Vicodin put me on any longer.  I feel 'balanced' and steady - something I haven't felt for quite some time now.  As for pain, I am managing with Advil.  As for slight insomnia, I am managing with Benadryl.
Anyway, I hope no one thinks I am bragging - I'm not.  I'm honestly just trying to say, 'if I can do this - anyone can!'.  Sending tons of positive thoughts, encouragement and hope your way!!!

18 days is awesome, it is not bragging.  Doing what you did, what alot of us have done, is monumental!
I didn't think I was going to make it thru the first few days, but stuck to it, and now 24 days later, very happy for many of the same reasons you are.
Positive energy heading your way, and I hope you have a wonderful Holiday.

As always, thanks for the continued support.  For those folks ahead of me - WONDERFUL!!! For those just starting, you CAN do it.  It feels so much better being clean.  This morning I woke up and thought, 'What a pain in the as* it was to get my prescription refilled - even a day ahead of time'.  I became conscience of the way the pharmacist looked at me - and felt even more conscience when I called my doctor's nurse to call in a prescription.  It got SO old - SO fast.  The good thing is the 'constant' pressure to get pills and have 'enough' pills for the day is now GONE.
As always - Happy Holiday's!!!

I am new to this but I just wanted to tell you Congrats on the 18 days. My DOC is Lortab. Im only on Day 2 and its nice to hear your story and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that there is hope I will feel better. The urges are my problem today. Congrats again and Good Luck to you.

It does get better. You may have a bumpy road with emotional ups and downs. But keep your eyes on the road, not the bumps. Being able to think more clearly and to be able to remember things feels so great. Are you taking vitamins & supplements? Are you still drinking lots of water? These play an important part in your recovery. At day 10 your body has been robbed of ingredients to rebuild itself. Water helps flush out toxins. Walking helps too. Are lymph system needs activity to work properly. Did you know that the is 3x more fluid in your lymph system than in your blood?

Thank you for posting this, I'm day 10 clean and I love reading stories about how much better it gets, I've been comparing peoples posts that are near me and I know others are struggling, but when I read posts of people who are 30 days out they just sound so much better, it's very inspirational to me right now, I need help to stay clean.  I'm going skiing tommarow for the first time sober in two years (I compete in IFSA U.S freeskiing nationals events) I'm going skiing with the old team and I'm terrified about how bad I'm going to ski just because I'm mentally better than I was a week ago but my body is still kinda tired.
