Curiosity...How did y'all decide your scree names?

Some people have obvious screen names. For example "IWantToGetClean2015" kinda speaks for itself and others have names and numbers and I wonder what they are all about. If you want to share the meaning of your screen name I would love to hear it.

I think my screen name speaks for itself but there is a little story behind it. I found this site in the back door way through a google search in august of 2007. I came in through some long, old post as many of us do and I did not realize where I was. A member who is no longer active guided me to start my own post and I did. I was weaning off of Suboxone at the time and did not consider myself clean. I was also using my real name as my screen name. I was telling some people at meetings about the site and then I decided I didn't want them to know who I was on here so I asked MedHelp if I could create another screen name. they said yes and the first day that I did not take my Suboxone (my first day clean) I created the screen name I have. But the problem with it is that I can't use because the name just wouldn't work anymore. You don't know how many times the name has kept me clean...So anybody else got a story?????

My screen name, Frogger76, came from the old Atari game, back in the 80's, my favorite game was frogger. I was born in 1976, so that's how I come up with mine. What a fun question to ask, I hope you get lots of replies, I'm curious too, lol!!!

Hi,
I like the comments so far; good stories :) and fun idea for a thread!
I decided on my screen name after weathering (and surviving) a lot of hard times in my life. The word clement can mean pleasant, calm, &/or compassionate.  When I discovered medhelp, I was feeling like I was finally coming to terms with my own demons (addiction, poor choices, toxic relationships), and I was starting to feel like there was hope for peace and calm in my life... Anyway, I've met some really terrific people here over the years that were instrumental in helping me cope with some of life's curve balls, and now I come around to return the favor when I can...

I'm a small person who carries many nicknames as a result, but mostly I'm called "tink" and "guppy" by my Husband who is a big man.  I didn't want to use guppy so I chose tink - thing is, it was already chosen.  I then tried "tinkerbell" and that too was chosen.  SO - I came up with my own way to spell TTinKKerBBell and it took !!

I hope more people will participate - this is fun

IBKleen - I especially enjoyed Your revelation about how Your 'name' has 'worked' for You andhas helped to keep You Kleen !!

Clement, I LOVE your story. I love that you found this site and it helped you. I also love that you stick around and help when you can. Giving back what was freely given to you is what it is all about. Thank you for sharing with us.

Tink..how adorable is that. I have looked at your screen name for some time now and I never saw "Tinkerbell". I just love how you created it. I am also happy that you found help here and that you are sticking around.

All y'all are what makes this site what it is today. Thank you for helping keep me clean!!

Love this thread....very fun (almost as fun as football).:)
My name has 2 stories - I will give the rated G version.  Being a busy mom with 3 kids I feel like I am always juggling duties and often times drop the ball - both when I was on vicodin, and now as well.  I also actually know how to juggle (learned from a clown).:)
Thank you IBK for this thread!

Hi IBK!!

Well, Vicki is my real nickname (Victoria) and what's meaningful about it for me is that I used it in the first place! I'm generally very private but I wanted to be honest and out in the open with my problem so using my real name was the beginning. I didn't want to hide anymore or be ashamed so it was my first big step. I don't regret it.   The 595 is computer generated by the MH minions who live in the forum.

How is your summer so far honey?

I was so desperate and sick when I found this place that I couldn't think of any cute names.  I was in the middle of withdrawal from a high dose of oxy.  I had no idea what to expect and was scared to death.  I will never forget that or the wonderful people that reached out to me and made me feel so much better.
I had to keep it very simple, thus my name.

Love these stories and explanations! I was born in 74 and LOVED Frogger!  As for me, Junip is a nickname I was given by a dear friend when I was about 22. My friends have always said I am like a beautiful, sweet flower and card me Juniper, which evolved into Junip for short.

Calamity Jane...I love it! My mom used to call me "Gravel Gurdy". She would say I looked like her when my hair and clothes were out of place. I didn't find out for years who she was and when I did it was really a blow to me. That woman was a mess!!! lol

My name kind of speaks for itself...I was so desparate when I came on here, I wanted a name that would remind me that I couldn't go through this again.  So "NeverAgain" just popped into my head.   127 is part of my birthday.

Great thread!

Well I was looking for help about 2 months after detoxing. Stumbled onto Med-Help. Didn't know what it was or if I was interested. Being desperate for help I wanted to join but was unsure. I tried about 15 of my favorite names that were taken before I became frustrated and just typed in the most obscure nutty name associated with addiction. Refills. I really don't like it at all today. Although it does serve as a reminder I guess.

Thanks refills..I am always interested in how the members picked their names. You kept it short, simple and right to the point.

I see some names and I go crazy. I see ones like:
"IwanttodetoxbutIcan'trightnowbecauseIhavenoonetocareformythreechildren."

Lol. that is not a real name but you get my point. Glad you stuck around refills!

I picked my screen name as an ode to my dearly departed Dad.  He once told me that Sonrisa meant sunrise in Spanish.  Well, since then people have told me that it actually means smile.  Huh, go figure.  I guess my dad sucked at Spanish.  LOL
