There is the distinct possibility that a man who forces his wife to have sex with him is a potential rapist where other females are concerned. This type of man is a control freak and it gets him off to be able to subjucate others, woman or man. Forcing someone to have sex with you whether it is a wife or anyone else is rape.

I was also basically refering to kids being put in harm's way not just being subjested to arguing or watching abuse happen but being put into the mix of it. That is what I was refering to I could not understand at all..... and have been there first hand......

Thats y I said when faced with the oportunity to do so regarding leaving as I understand that choices are limited for many for one reason or another. I don't understand many of the reasons but do know they have to have some validity to them just because I don't undertsand them does not make them not real reasons. Even if it staying just for love I undertsand that as well and know how hard some try... Mike

Yes there is always a way out but its alot like a pill addiction or alcohol.  Until you are ready to get out you dont.  The abuse takes us to the depths of he!! and we feel threatened and worthless.  Usually beaten down by the mental game and we dont feel we could do anything on our own including breathing. Then throw the physical part in and to hear all the time how noone would ever want us.  Scary stuff.  Sorry for going off again.  I need to shut my mouth.                            sara

after reading all the posts which i should in the first place....I just have to say that when a women is in a abusive relationship it is hard to explain why you dont run, ppl think we are fools and that is why most will keep their mouths shut about it. Its something no one can understand unless it happens to you. Kinda like others that arnt addicts dont have a clue what we go though, there is always a reason if a women stays even if it dosnt make sense to others. I know its a terriable thing and if a friend of mine was being abused i would tell her to get the f out and if she didnt i wouldnt understand even though i know what its like, sometimes you are stuck for one reason or the other.

I think so too that it is wrong I am just curious now as this makes me wonder if they can actually prosecute someone for doing it as I am sure it happens pretty often more so than rape on the street. To reply to Mangee I dont think conseling would be necesary regarding this issue if people would start to realize that you don't beat someone with one hand and tell em u love by touching with the other. WTF is that? I saw my mother put up with it for years from her second marriage the kind of sh t you'd read about in a book kinda abuse and I am very touchy when it comes to this subject. Refering to the guys that do this do you know that the majority of them won't think about physical violence with another guy? I wonder why? I am not one for returning the viloence unless it is self defense and I cannot understand people who have away out why they don't get the hell out of the marriage when faced with the oprtunity to do so and are willing to put their children through the most horrid experience. Who knows? I sure don't!! I had a friend when I was in my twenties who was all screwed up and later committed suicide by police after flipping out and charging the police. He was all screwed when it came to his childhood becasue he said his dad never physically beat his mom but verbally abused the hell outta her and she ended up shooting him dead while he is the front yard fixing his car. She gave him the house and he moved in it to be shot in the front yard two weeks later. I think if the original person who posted this would try to prosecute the offender she would feel better about herself and would help in her getting through this to have a very happy and productive life. I am sorry to hear anyone ever woyld have to think of fighting off their husband.

From a genuine human male and from a strictly legal point of view - yes, a man can rape his wife and it isnt any different from raping a total stranger.........

Rape is about violence, hatred and control, not sex (although sex is often part of it).

BTW if your husband using biblical quotation to support his doing it, he's WRONG. That scripture is often misinterpreted. It's about a husband's right to progeny, which is another question entirely.

I hope you're doing all right, and am sorry to here of your troubles.

I am ok today, I just thank god everyday for my support system, between youall and my friend in IN, I am doing so much today...this just reinforces that fact that I need to run. 2 days and counting before I am out of here...and will be out of the house today  while he is here, will get home right(5mins) before he leaves for works.

rape is violent, demeaning and humiliateing.and no one shouldbe exposed to any of this. i suggest that anyone commiting rape should meet his fate with a baseball bat.(husband or not) i guarantee after he gets outta the hospital he'll never think about it again.as for the person raped after you clean off your bat. get a lil help so you can realize there is nothing youve done to desserve this hanis act to happen to you.

Any time a person is taken like that without our permission is rape in my eyes. My 2nd ex husband would beat the **** out me and then try to apologize by taking me with or without my consent. It was frightning, degrading, painful and just plain sickening to the point of vomiting.  Im sorry for going off here.  Very touchy subject for me.  I hope you are okay.                    sara
