withdrawal help

i have been addicted to opiates for 2 and a half years. i am currently on the first day clean, having taken only one hydrocodone and some tramadol for the past three days which was an attempt to lower withdrawal. it seems to have helped. i used to work out before i got addicted and i use to take creatine monohydrate. i found a bottle today and want to know if it would help with the mailaise and/or any other part of w/d. i read some other sites where some people say it helped them. its seems logical in that it helps muscle recovery and give the person bursts of energy. well i just want to see what others think and if they have tried or know. if its a matter of mind over matter then maybe i shouldnt ask. well i just took some creatine and i will post if it helps. also i think i will force myself to lift some weights , i cant run or i would jog.

Your doing everything right.  Just try to put in your mind that your that it is only temporary.  When the RLS kicks in what really helped for me is the warm epsom salt baths.  Some times I would have to take 3-5 at night,  I try not to fight it to just goto sleep, just go straight to the bath.  You'll probably have broken sleep for like the next day or two but youll know when your done with the WD.  The Rls comes somtimes still with me.  Also you can try to sleep in a lounge chair cuz laying flat brought mine on, and lastly I also took about1500mg of calcium citrate a day and that helped.  Best of luck to you!

You may want totry drinking a bottle of gator aid at bed time too. It's got a source of potassium. ;-) I wish I knew how to calm the anxiety.

Have you read about the hylands rls otc, med? Many swear by it, also lot's recommend banana's, for potassium? There's help out there if you need it. I say if your gonna want any of those aids to quitting have them there before it goes critical. Sounds like maybe this won't be so bad after all, that would be grand. Don't forget to do any exercise your up for, it helps alot to get the crud out of you. You are well on your way to a better life, keep it comin!

day 2, better than past withdrawals. RLS was very bad last night, I've had insomnia but not that bad RLS. but i got some sleep around 8am till bout Noon. I Mainly just feel tired from little sleep and hands mildly clammy. some aches . going to go take a hot shower (i prefer over bath). If I dont have bad RLS again i think ill feel better tommorow. i think ill take some benzos for tonight. usually the third day for me starts to feel better.

Hi there! Congrats on taking the first step to recovery. Im on day 7. I was only on opana off and on for one year but it took me four tries to quit and Im finnaly done. I used the thomas recipe along with lots of rest and support from friends. Had someone come stay with me for the first few days and it was a good distraction. Restless legs and anxiety were the worst for me personally. I used thera flu nightime for sleep and had a smoothie with a banana every morning. Hot baths are a good escape from wd as well. Dont give up. I was scared Id never be the same again. One week later I feel very close to my old self. Im sure its different for everyone, but you'll get through it and everyone here is so great for support and suggestions! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

thank you for comment. well the cigarettes are a temporary solution. I have grown out of my taste for them and they are not for me anymore. but for me right now its like taking supplements or benzos or tapering, you know? just to calm the symptoms if only for a little while.

I was just cruisin along minding my own medication and life seemed balanced. I got so stressed after being off cigs for 6 months [after 40 years] the only thing I could think to do to reduce my stress was pick up the cigs again [6 months ago and still smokin] but what I found out it absolutely ignited my withdrawals from oxy. Were all a little differant but the cigs at least for me was like taking a great big nasty hit, if you know what I mean? Seems to me your are on the right path, getting away from the opiates tho, best of luck jes, also the exercise does help a whole lot.

its only been two hours but it went in 'slow motion'. creatine doesnt seem to work for me. its seemed to help at first but i was on the computer with my mind off my w/d. maybe thats why i felt better and not the creatine. when i use to go off hydrocodone i would smoke ciga
rettes more and it calmed me down, made me sit outside to get air and waste time. i am 21 and was smoking since i was 15. started slow then just got as high as a pack every two days. i quit smoking about three years ago and never had nicotine withdrawals at all and only little cravings. so i am going to get a pack to get me through then ill probably stop. i start sometimes when i go through w/d and i quit when i relapse. feeling bad and my eye sight makes it worse. makes me feel dizzy and tired because i see blurry
