New to group

Hi there, I just got home from detox yesterday for pain meds. I am a chronic pain patient. I went in to get control of the meds and my mind. I am going to lower my dosage to half of what the doctor has allotted me for the day. This has been so hard on me and my family. Just looking for like minded people to connect with for encouragement and good counsel. I have had 4 back surgeries and deal with extreme pain each day.I went 5 days without a pill. First time in a long time. But now that I'm home I find it so hard not to fall back into old habits. Any ideas?

Great comment thank you. I have been on meds for 5 years. Now taking percocet and 50 mgs of morphine a day. The doctor has allowed me 6 percs and 2 of the 50's. But I wasnt sticking to the plan. Buying pills came easy and I could hide it from my husband. One day my head cleared and I asked for help. He has been dispensing my meds for about 6 months. Until this month when I picked the pills up from the pharmacy and took a bunch out. so stupid...I didnt need them, he decided he had had enough and got my father involved. something in me woke up and I decided last sunday I'd had enough and checked myself into detox. Im home and its hard not to take the pills because the pain is so maddening. I will do this by the grace of God and good advice. I plan to use this as a source of support daily...thanks again

Greetings Trikkinikki --- Welcome to the forum ---  You have come to the right place and I hope you will check in often and post often ----  there is a lot of encouragement and support here.   I don't know how I would have quit my Oxy addiction without these folks.  Most of us on here are former or current pain patients who got hooked along the way and wanted to reclaim our lives from Opiates.  You didn't say how long you have been using or what your DOC (drug of choice) was.  Five days without dope is great and shows you can make this a success -----  I hope you will consider getting some help if you are going to taper --- having someone dispense your meds will help when the temptation to cheat comes calling.  Good luck to you and please post often - share where you are in the journey -- and read a lot of others posts.  All the best.

Welcome to the forum! You have come to the right place for support and encouragment!!

Stay strong and always keep in mind that you dont want to use those pills anymore. Fill your day with things to keep you busy. Go for a walk, read a book....basically anything to keep your mind and yourself busy. Anytime you are having a craving or just a bad day in general....post!!! You will not believe how much it really does help. Its always good to know that there are people going threw the same as you are. Makes you feel not so alone in this fight!!
Good luck to and remember......stay strong!!!
