Need help

I have been taking Norco 10 325 for a very long time because I have severe arthritis and have also had surgery to remove my left lung due to cancer.  I was going to a Pain Management Clinic and then I moved to another state. I was prescribed Norco by another provider and the Clinic found out about it.  Anyway, they discharged me and now I am unable to get any help.  I don't know what other choice I have than to wean myself off of Norco.  I am so tired of having my life being controlled by others and from the way it looks, it's not going to get any better.  Does anyone have any advice that will help me get through this? I am seriously scared out of my mind both because of the withdrawals and because I am also going to have to find other ways to deal with debilitating pain. You all seem to be very caring people who have had to walk down similar paths.  Thank you in advance for any help you give.

Hi, Perry, welcome. Firstly, there are many on this site who live w/ chronic pain w/o narcotics. Be patient, as the site has been slow, but I'm sure they'll be chiming in. As for getting off norco, it's not fun, but it doesn't have to be scary.  Remember, this is the "price" we need to pay to be free of being a slave to this horrid drug. How much are you on? You can wean, or if you don't have any other issues that would be a threat, you can do cold turkey which most of us have done. Look up the Thomas Recipe on here for basic supplies that you'll need during wd. It should take about a week, the acute phase that is, and symptoms kind of come and go after that for quite a while depending. But it's very doable, and only a blip compared to being free! Stay on here for more support:)
