Checking in...

I thought I would give you all an update so you didn't think I fell off the wagon,,, I am currently 22 days clean from having seriously abused hydro's, I was taking about 300mg per day.. This has been the biggest struggle I have ever overcome, but I am very confident in keeping my sobriety,, I have set goals and started living again... For all of those out there please give it some time before you consider that you'll feel better with these drugs, the only way to feel better is to go through w\d and recovery,,, Even in just few weeks I feel tremendously better, I think more clearly, care about more things, even my eyes and coloring are back,,, I didn't really realize I was living without these things, but as the drug has left my system and my body has began healing life already looks so much more appealing... And I need to send a thanks to many of you for helping me and giving me strength to face my demon head on.... He will not win!!!

I am glad that some of you are still here.. And congrats all the way around.. Yes guys we are doing it,, I have started reading "Romancing Opiates" and it is a book that a man who has dealt with people using opiates mainly heroin, and the recovery process... he has a different idea about it than anything I've read about opiate addiction,, so far he agrees that opiate addiction is a hard one to overcome, and he believes it is more of a phycological problem than anything else,, That in his experience the opiate is very addictive if the person has been exposed to the "opiate high" sometimes as little as only a few times, that person has the potential of becoming an addict if they have the mental potential of becoming an addict,, and that in his experience that giving the addict a deeper meaning such as religion or a life change of some sort has the highest success,, I haven't read that much but that is what i've gathered from it so far... And in some ways I agree you need something to get you through to the other side of recovery,, that something is different for every person and my best advice would be to find whatever you need to light that fire under your *** and stick with this.. most of us here abused these pills for a reason, we liked the way it made us feel,, find something that will make you feel good without them, and during the recovery part of it that initial 6 months sometimes you really have to reach inside yourself to find yourself,, these pills have altered our minds, our bodies, our lives in many ways,, and for many of us we are learning to live again,, My biggest problem is when I have to face something that brings anger or anxiety, and sometimes it's really hard for me to get over it,, With time and distraction I calm down, and I know that in 6 months I will be able to handle my emotions better,,   I wouldn't recommend the book yet.. so far it's pretty boring but I figure I will learn so I will read it...  :)
