Darvacet side effects

I have been on and off pain meds due to a neck injury for years.  I took myself off of the OXy's i was taken and been off for about 3 weeks.  The doc gave me some darvacets and I THINK they are giving me shortness of breath.  I also, take 1 soma350 a day now and two zanaflex at night to relax my twitches

Has anyone else had these symptoms?  I also developed high blood pressure a year ago but my blood pressure is ok, sometimes 150/88 but mostly 140/78

well, yesterday I had ZERO of anything (btw, i am not an addict, I am in Pain Management) and my chest was tight, shortness of breath and my blood pressure was 182/123.  I went to ER, they did a heart cath on me and found nothing wrong with me.   Now that was freaky.  I feel fine today outside of a sore groin area

yep any opiate causes respiratory depression- some worse than others and also depends on each persons physiology and their reaction to each drug. For me, morphine was the worst- i had severe breathing problems when i was taking the time release form of it. (at prescribed doses= wasnt spiking it, overusing it, crushing it or anything) But second in line for breathign troubles for me was Darvocet of all things. Even though its considered a weak opioid (its synthetic), it always messed with my breathing.

Good to hear. I felt I should point this out though...Darvocet which is known as propoxyphene is related to methadone which I remember from my former reasearch into this subject. A simple search of google will give you HUNDREDS of cases where people have died from mixing methadone and benzos or other CNS depressents. I actually just went to a funeral of a guy who did that a few months ago (xanax and methadone). In fact, in just the last 2 - 3 years in my area I have personaly known 3 people who have died from that, but there have been many many more.

I am not sure how long darvocet stays active, but methadone is a LONG acting medicine and it may not matter if you take the doses 12 or even 24 hours apart. Stay safe!

I have spoken to my doc and he says darvacet does not cause SOB, but my research tells me it does.  I went off of them and it went a way.

i DO NOT take them altogether.  I may take a pain pill in the am. and I MAY take a soma in the evening or two zanaflex

Thanks for your concern but once agaion I DO NOT take them all at once.  I hate the buzz one soma and one datvacet gives me

wow. You are on darvocet, soma, and zanaflex? Did your doctor really prescribe all those together?  No wonder you have shortness of breath. That mixture can be a death sentence from what I understand...Perhaps I am mistaken, but to the best of my knowledge thats a horrible combo

The best advice I can offer to you is that you need to tell your doctor about this ASAP.Even if someone else comes along who may have experienced the same thing, that doesn't necessarily mean thats why it is happening to you.For the sake of your well being, please talk to your doctor. All the best..Kim
