No weightloss after stopping methadone?!?!

Background: before methadone 135 lbs...after 3 year on it up to 173. I have been clean for 6 weeks. I was never really sick after I quit because I tapered very slowly of 85 mg over an entire year. My question is this. I read and have heard of EVERYONE loosing the weigt they put on. They say it just falls off. WTH?!?! Mine must love me because nothing I do get lbs it off. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism while taking it and I know this was due to the meds. I have never even after 3 children had a problem loosing weight. I am sooo frustrated. Has this happened to anyone else?

are you taking meds to treat the hypothyroidism?
our bodies change as we get older, our bodies also change after we give birth.
congrats you did an awesome job tapering your methadone and getting off of it.
don't ever regret that. you are free of the chains and bondage of methadone. that is huge.
I have hypothyroidism and find it hard to lose weight.
keep up the exercise and healthy diet it will  help with your lack of energy and the feeling of being down in the dumps. the weight loss could just be taking longer than you would like.
the exercise will help your natural endrophins, serotonin and dopamine repopulate this will help you in so many ways.

I gained all the weight while on Methadone. At 33 with my 3rd child I was up to 180 at birth and lost every lb without any exercise. I have been exercising, watching carb intake, and drowning myself in water since I quit the methadone and I cannot lose a single lb. one of the many reasons I was so happy to get off that crap was because EVERYONE says that you lose the weight it puts on you. It really has me down as I now look 7 months pregnant. Up until 3 years ago I have always had a flat tummy. I guess I just wish that I could see a few good results from quitting. Nothing yet...no increased energy, weightloss...nothing. I guess the lack of weightloss just has me really down in the dumps...to the point of tears.

Hi.. In the 90s when I was doing the hydo/oxys then I went and got the Methadone prescribed for 12 years after this. I slowly gained weight becasue I would not eat when I got a Buzz of these pills. Then I started eating a very Lean diet and got real thin. Within the first year of my Recovery I gained some weight back. Now it has been 14 months (I think) and the weight is kicking off on its own. I have to eat right in order for this to do this too! It is really hard when we reach a certain age in life to lose it like we used to. There is alot that plays like lose of hormones and such. Sometimes the Body will hit a peak and that is were it likes to stay. Make sure you eat Lean and Complex Carbs and try to stay away from sugars..Eat fruit to get your sugar. When I was eating right I ate certain foods every 3 hours and they were small. They where set up to help keep the insulin level from spiking high. I wish you the best and if you would like more info just PM me. I wish you the best..And yes I gained weight when I came clean..Because of the Way I was Eating.
