Day 60 Hydrocodone

Just wanted to update everyone. Last time I logged on I was 5 days clean. Looking back Day 3 through 6 were the absolute worst for me. I was exhausted, couldn't stop using the bathroom (which didn't clear up for about 3 weeks), leg cramps, and chills. I lost a good 7 pounds just from the diarrhea. I was prescribed 120 10mg's Hydrocodone a month, and I always ran out early. One night I was laying in bed in pain. Nothing would help. My boyfriend was sound asleep, and I remember feeling so jealous that he was so soundly asleep. He never had headaches and he never needed his pills before we went out. That's when it hit me, I had to stop! I wanted that kind of life.  If not just for me, or for him, but for us. I told my boyfriend that I was going to quit that next morning when he woke up. He kinda just looked at me and smiled with the "sure you are" kinda grin that people give when they aren't buying in to what you are saying. Anyway, here I am 60 days later grinning right back at him. I know I still have a long way to recovery, but I'm proud for sticking to my guns. I am no longer the person who wonders "how do people make it through the day with out pills" but I am the one making it through life with out pills. It's such an awesome feeling. In the beginning there were so many times I wanted to just take a half a pill. My advice to you: Don't do it. Hang in there! It only gets easier. It's awesome when you go from counting the minutes and hours you have been sober, to the days and weeks. Thanks everyone on the forum and I will continue to update my story as I get to 90 days! Love you guys!!!!!
P.S. Things that helped me: yoga, forum reading, realizing every minute that passes I am a minute closer to where I want to be, great support system, wanting my old life back again, determination.

omg I soooo know what you are talking about. I talk with my ex, .. its complicated, but anyway, he is the same way, and my best friend is too. She said, "bla bla I never had any problem and neither did so and so... bla bla"
We can't change them, would love to smack them, but just focus on yourself. I have asked both the ex and my friend to go online and read forums like this, but neither has cared enough to do so, but I am sure one is playing her farmville and the other is watching his porn, and neither is googling this for me, so screw them, LOL, just concentrate on us and what WE need, right? If you want him to help with something, make sure you come out and verbalize it and ask, don't expect to ever get anything without asking at least once. Am I right> LOL

Lily

Thanks for the inspiration.   I am just starting out and I need to read things like this to keep me focused.   My husband is good, but he thinks it is no big deal.   Of course, he has never taken more than one or two pills in his life and when he does take one, I say, "You'd better watch out."   He says that is bull that it is mind over matter and he isn't going to end up addicted.  I remind him that is how I started out.   He still thinks it is no big deal.   *sigh*   I wish he was right....but I know he's not.   He has no idea how really miserable I feel.

I am so proud of you, Congrats girl that is AWESOME, I was taking Loratab 10's for over 10 years about 4-5 a day. I am on day 4 of not taking any, it has been the hardest thing I have ever done. My husband is 12 days clean, everyone we know just about takes them so we are losing friends because we quit, which is fine with me, they would have been bad to be around.  Again I am proud for you, and it gives me hope.  Hugs  Renee
