Day 6, clean from suboxone

Still feeling better. My body is still definatley out of whack, but I sleep a bit better every night. No tremors, no immodium today. Enjoyed a ZZ Top concert last night. Good weekend. I'm starting to feel alive again. I have to remind myself that I don't have to worry about getting my fix today, and that kicks ass.

I am really glad to find this page. This a very stressful addiction. I have tried the suboxone and when it came time to get off all-together it took about two days until I started to feel WD's again. They were steadily worse each day until I had to go back to the Dr. .I am currently taking subutex and I am scared to completely stop. Currently I can take a 4mg tab under tongue and be ok. Suboxone made me very sick and I had bad HEADACHES. Subutex can give you a rush if you abuse it too but more like you had too much coffee. I hear you can also take subutex when you are pg. not suboxone.  Anyone with info on any better way to stop the WD and who knows how I can have my sanity back please please please let me know.

THanks for getting back to me so quickly.  I have not tried Suboxone, but have an appointment next Monday to start if I want.  I have taken some narc or another for 7+ years and more recently 1 year of Oxycontin 60mg. 3 x day.  My doctor has quit giving it to me, right at my refill time, and has left me in a worldwind!!  It was totally my fault - got caught getting another script from a different doc one time and boy did it hit the fan.  I called the doc this morning and asked if he could help me get to next monday, seeing that I didn't even know if I was an addict or just dependent but have 2 young children to care for and dont' think w/d and that go very well together.  He offered some Colonadine and Darvon step down patch.  I basically told him to shove those.  I asked him if he knew what opiate w/d was like especially on the dose I was on and he started reading to me out of a book. I wanted to PUKE>  Anyway, can you tell me a little more about how you feel with the Sub.  Do you sstill have some w/d and cravings?  thanks for the help

Hello everyone, thanks so much for the support. It's so nice to have people who understand hw difficult this is, as most people seem to have no clue. Desparate Wife, we're ALL stronger than we think when we set our minds to something. I still don't feel like I should; sleep is forever coming every night. No break last night.
Mis Take- 1. What were you on before? I was on 200-300 mgs of hydrocodone prescribed for over a year, after which I supplemened with whatever i could find on the street, namely oxycontin.
3. How much Suboxone did you take? I took 2 8mg tabs a day to start, after 2 years of tapering I got down to .5 mgs/ day, once a day
4. How did you feel on it? After 12 hours clean at the beginning, the first dose of Sub made me feel normal again. Not high, but I definatley felt like I had my medicine
5. DOes it do anything for pain? It acts like an opiate in your system. Because of the usually lower dose tham you would usually take, it may no seem to be working. I think that pain management is normally a seperate issue, with suboxone being used as an addiction treatment. Suboxone is great for those ready to aadmit they have an addiction, and who dont currently have the resources or the willpower to quit a large habit. I couldn't quit the first time I tried. Not only were the WDs extreme, but I didnt have the time and money to miss 4-5 days of work. Suboxone helped me get to that point, and then helped limit the extremity of the WDs after I quit. It's the morning of day 7, and I'm still quit. Not much sleep last night, but I feel better every day still, and no more of the worst WDs.

Can you please tell me your experience with Suboxone.  I plan to speak to a doc about it in the morning.  I am quitting Oxy after 2 years but with a total of 7+ years on Opiates of some kind.  I have read quite a bit about it but hearing it from someone who has been through it would really be helpful.  I would love to know:  1. What were you on before? 2. How much? 3. How much Suboxone did you take? 4. How did you feel on it?  5. DOes it do anything for pain?  (if it does, that would sure kill two birds since I know I will always have to take something, this seems like a better option.  I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm actually here because pf my husband.

He quit Hydro and Vics (1 yr 30/40 per day)on Friday - C/T went through serious w/d Friday night and Saturday - today he woke up feeling great, joking, hungry and full of energy.  I thought he was going to have a serious drop tonight.  So far, nothing.  We went out to dinner and now he's in the patio jamming Van Halen!  He's not yelling from the other end of the house asking if I'm ready for expresso.

I'm just grateful, it was not too bad.

Just hang in there and keep telling my husband, Charly, to remember that he is stronger than this . . . he has always been stronger - and then I tell him to just take it one step at a time.

I have to admit - I'm out outsider looking in.  The closest I come to addiction is my 7=8 cups of coffee a day.    But really - you've come a long way and the pay-off at the end is well worth it.
