Flushing Narcotics

In '96 my Dad passed away. Hospice situation. I rang hospice to let them know and while on the phone they told me to immediately flush all meds (morphine) down toilet. I did so. Years later I read about a private company testing the water in most of our major cities, they found antidepressants, narcotics, anxiety meds in our drinking water. I was shocked to read this. Now I'm here and see that that is the advice as well. As usual, I don't have the answer but there must be a better way. Please believe me, I am not making a judgement.

The pharmacy I use said to dispose of it in used cat litter. No possibility of anyone even thinking to look there.

there is a certain satisfaction that comes with flushing the meds most municipal fresh water treatment comes with carbon filtration so drinking water is safe the efulent going into the sewer is another story fro the few and far between with flushing pills I feel the reward outways the environmental risk they measure this stuff in parts per million and drugs in parts per billion
its kinda like running for a steel umbrella during a meteor shower ...I wouldent loose any sleep over it.........Gnarly

There is ! A lot of police departments have dispose sites with no questions asked  ! They collect all turned in medications  and they BURN them instead of drugs ending up in the water tables . Check and see if your locale police have such a site or I'm sure they can direct you to the nearest station .. Good luck .. Jimmy
