Getting through this

I am currently 27 hours in to my detox and I really thought that it might be worse than this. So far I have major chills, sweats, anxiety, skin crawling, insomnia. But that is really the worst parts. Will it get worse than this and when will I start to feel better? I have taking 3-4 10/325 hydrocodone every day for almost a year. I came clean to my fiance this weekend after our pre-marital counseling session (we are getting married in June and it is required by our officiant) He is being 100% supportive and standing by me through this. He knows of my history with addiction and has zero judgement. So, will the withdrawal symptoms get worse from here. Not sure what to expect from the dosage I was taking. Any advice would be great!

Thank you all for your support!! I actually woke up this morning feeling pretty darn NORMAL!!!!! I got up, emptied the dishwasher, responded to a few emails, got my school stuff together, all without taking a damn PILL!!! Imagine that!!! What a feeling!!! The only reason I slept through the night was because I woke up at 1 am and slugged some nyquil and then passed smooth out. The previous 2 nights, nothing was helping me sleep or easing the skin crawling feeling and restlessness. I really feel 80% right now. Wow how amazing!

I am in touch with my old sponsor again ( I was sober from a different substance for 4 years when I decided I could start drinking again, that obviously didn't work). We are talking every day and I am getting my spiritual connection back =) This all started when I started planning my wedding and all these past family issues surfaced, and they are still here but now i know I can tackle then clear headed =)

Thanks again!

congrats. And believe it or not 10 pills per day isn't as insane as it can go.. the longer you keep at it, the higher your tolerance and if like me after several years you will hit 30+ and upwards.. so use this as an opportunity to quit once and for all before it gets to that point. I never imagined it would, but it sucked me in and got worse and worse.

Take it from myself and many others here that didn't quit when we had your habit - stop now. For yourself, your loved ones, everything. Because it doesnt get more fun, quite the opposite.

Usually days 2-4 were the worst for me... but most importantly, the easist part is the stopping and getting through the withdrawal - the hard part is the STAYING clean when the mental games start in telling you that you can control your addiction and "do just a few". That is why its really important to have something in place so you don't go back to pills - a therapist, AA/NA meetings, etc..  Takings pills is symptom of something you are trying to escape.

Great job, hang in there and believe in yourself.

No kidding! I have a family member who has been in denial for many many years and continues using these things. It's sort of how I got hooked, but he takes about 10 a day, I totally feel for him, but he won't be stopping anytime soon. Maybe me doing so can be an inspiration to him.

You weren't taking much so after another day or two you should be feeling better. The more you take and the longer you take it the harder it is. Thank God you decided to stop before you were taking handfuls of pills. Then you might REALLY suffer. Good luck

Wow that really is reassuring!! I knew it was a sign to quit when I had four days off from work. I work in a kitchen and that just doesn't happen!! So I took the opportunity to just DO IT. Glad I did!!! Thanks for the help!

Unless I am missing something, then it seems you are going into the middle of it all.

Usually the worst of the WD's last from the second day into the fourth. If you are 27 hours in, you have about 48-72 hours left. As far as it getting worse, maybe, MAYBE just a little, but not really. It's on day 2 that you are hit with the worst of the worst, but it can be different for everyone.

Keep going and hang in there.
