success on suboxone??????

I go to class every month to get my sub... I have been doing this for 5yrs now, most people that i've seen come and go usually get kicked out.  Are there no one who is coming off this stuff successfully??  I tend to think not!!  I bevieve that theres a big secret that maybe 10% are successful and people like me are going to be on it forever!!  I know that it makes you FEEL normal but but success should be being completely drug free not reling on the sub. to keep you that way... Does anybody agree??  Who of you out there are completely free of the suboxone monkey after being on it for a while??

it is hard to say..i think if someone is really ready then yes..th sub can be a tool to get clean,...often people stay and stay on sub cos they r not ready to face life without a narcotic..and sub is a narcotic..also many fell for the "sub is a miracle drug" thing the pharm company put out and get stuck on it..they were afraid of wd in the first place and now they r facing wd to get off the sub..ouch!  and then they say..taper and u will be free with litle pain from sub/..most addicts are no good at tapering or they woulda tapered from their doc in the first place!  and then many subbers have a steady supply and a legal right to use..other than finances and a will to be free from all narcotics//there becomes less and less reason to get off....i do think people on high doses//over 150 mgs of a narcotic/ may need the assistance for a few weeks while they work the program and dont lose their jobs due to strong wds/but i have seen many kick high habits with no outside help from another narc.. ..and i do beleive some need it for life to stay clean/and it is better than the alternative of illegal drug use...it is sad to see an 80 mg a day hydro user tied up on sub years later tho...sub can become a DOC..it can also become a chain around ur neck like ur doc was....doctors say they have a 90% success rate...i wonder bout that cos many never come back after they relapse so they really dont know how many stayed clean long term...i feel eventually the full truth abut just how strong sub is will come to the surface and like methadone..it will be an option but will not be thought of as a "super drug" any longer...but it has its place..and it has helped many...and i personally know people it helped to get clean...but the desire to be clean has to outweigh the desire to use before all narcs will be stopped (GTM)  there r many here who can help you with sub detox if u need it..keep posting

7 MONTHS Suboxone free after being on it for a little over 2 1/2 years.  I think long term users who actually are able to come off are a smaller minority than ever imagined.  My doctor even said to me when I was seeing him once a month for my refill that he has "many patients who stay on a low dose forever... its that great"..
