Its does help a bit with the creepy crawly feelings of withdrawl, not to mention keep your blood pressure down. Its hard to say what the er will do for you, it just depends on the doctor and how compassionate he is. More than likely an ER doc wont give you a benzo, but you never know. If they do I would advise you to not take them for any longer than absolutely necessay, they are very addictive, espcially when you are going through w/d. I wouldnt think they would have a problem giving you some clonidine, unless you already have low blood pressure. All you can do is be honest and tell them the truth and that you dont have a regular doctor, maybe someone there can refer you to a physician that can help or even a P.A. thats an addcition specialist. It all depends on the doctor that is on staff, some are just more prone to help someone during w/d's while others think that you are in there purely seeking drugs. So its up to you, but the best thing you can do if you go in is be totally honest with them about how you feel and that you dont have an established doctor yet. Good luck, either way you can get through this, just keep fighting. Take Care.
The clonidine really did help me I have not doubt. I took it for abt. 3 or 4 days. ( during the worst time) If you are very far along with the detox, they may not think you need any by now. It is worth a try and perhaps if you explain everything your doing and how badly you're feeling then they might help you. You never know what Dr. you will get in the ER and some will try to help and others may not do a thing, although they are suposed to help people, they may look at addiction differently.
It's worth the try if you are hurting pretty bad.
