hi. just wanted to add something that may give you more hope. people come into recovery for a lot of different reasons, and although most of them probably need it, many do not want it at first. you seem to really want it, and if you can hold onto that, you stand to do well. you can do this and it will get better.  take care,  gm

How much alcohol?
You say you never wanted to do anything so bad in your life before...................I know how you feel, but dont wait until you are forty something years old like I did, I wish I had sought out help earlier.

I am telling you the best thing you can do in my opnion, is stay on this forum and ask people questions. As long as you really want to quit there are some really good people here to help, all you have to do is put down the bottle of booze and the pills, post and want it bad enough and you will get more help than you can imagine.........it is just slow tonight because of the weekend.

Good Luck, hope to see your still around tomorrow.

Naah, you aren't going to die.
You are not going to feel very well but, if most people will admit it the fear of withdrawl and the unknown, is one of, if not the worst problems of detoxing. This is not to imply it is going to be easy because it is not, everyone is different but surely you have had a BAD cold or the flu.............That is what you will most likely feel like, as the above replies stated.
How much and how often  were you taking the Lortabs?
Check out the Thomas Recipe listed toward the bottom right of this page also, the amino acid protocol will help,

Posting will really help as others who have been there will come on an guide you through it. Commit yourself, and have no fear!!

Good luck and keep posting.

hi there. are you, or were you once on these meds for a legitimate reason? if you've been on them that long, ct might not be a good idea. opiate detox itself won't kill you, though it may feel like it. however, when combined with pre-existing conditions, it could cause serious complications. this is why medically supervised detox is advisable for nearly all drugs. if nothing else, a medical facility can monitor you and give you meds prn for symptoms or even taper you down gradually off of the chemicals. there are some posts here concerning the "thomas recipe" and 'amino acid protocol' which contain helpful detox info. if rehab is not financially possible, you might be able to have a physician prescribe you meds to assist in a "self" detox. if you are coming off of alcohol, benzodiazepines or barbituates, the stakes are raised as detoxing can be life-threatening. also, if you have not already done so, it would be a good idea to find a local na or aa group. some folks there have already done this before, and being local they could also direct you to other resources close to you. whichever route you take, i commend you for initiating the process, and wish you the best. try to take advantage of all available resources, and remember that it will get better, even though right now is probably hell. take care,       gm

Welcome ,try to stick to one thread it can get confusing when you have multiple threads going .The weekends are slow but people will answer your posts.

1st off you will not die ,you might feel like you want too at times but its going to be ok .You are going to feel crappy for about a week .hot ,cold ,nauseaed ,achy just plain rotten
When you hit about 5 days things will start to get better its not fun but its very doable .Hang in there we are for support
