38 weeks 4 days pregnant, taking vicodin

Hello again! I posted a question last week pertaining to the same thing, but I would really like some more input. I am 38w4d pregnant, getting induced this coming saturday morning the 22nd. I have been taking vicodin through the last four months of my pregnancy due to sever back problems. I dont take a high dose at all, I am precribed 500mg tablets, and to take 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. I usually take anywhere from 1/2 to 2 pills a day, depending on how bad my back pain is. My OB advised me to stop takin them two weeks before i delivered or my baby would go through withdrawls, and I have cut down on what I take. I only take them when it is necessary, and I am down to takin 1/2 to 1 pill a day at most. Has anyone taken pain meds up until delivery? And if so, what are the withdrawls that my son will have to go through? Will he for sure gp through withdrawls since I am on a low dose? Any input would be greatly apreciated. Thanks :)

It sounds fine. You might want to post over on the pain management forum. There are some wonderful folks there and some women who have gone through this very thing. They will reassure you.  Don't worry...

I took 4 Percoset 5s a day pretty much my whole pregnancy. I have endometrosis and fibroids and had a very painful pregnancy. I used them up until I was induced. My little girl was very healthy and beautiful I might add. No withdrawels. Your baby should be fine since you aren't taking much. I had a friend who goes to a methadone clinic and took it throughout her pregnancy and the baby was fine and that's intense stuff.
