suboxone??

will some of you share experience if prescribed suboxone, physical & mental.  see, i been prescribed them but have only taken two only the one day i didn't have hydro.  it got me through that day, but i don't know about day two, three, four, etc.  because i got hydro the very next day and haven't been without since.  in other words, i'm afraid my mind is telling me i can take sub until hydro comes along, like a crutch.  i know this pill taking has got to stop soon. especially financially, and when i'm taking hydro is when i get pumped up about quitting.  what do you think?  thanks.

My advice to anyone that's on opiots for pain stay on your drugs. If you abuse them, my advice is to try and stop!! Once you go to Suboxone and you go to certain states, you will not be prescribed your medications any longer. I can say that suboxone is the best thing for pain. It takes less and lasts all day. As with oxycodone and morphine, it is shorter acting. I was living in Kansas for a short period and my pain Dr. gave me Suboxone for my pain. I thought that was pretty cool. Although it's supposed to be for detox, it actually helps for pain as well. That's how I looked at it when I got on it.

I have severe arthritis, so I've been on dilaudid & Fentenyl patches-150 mcg. I moved to a county that won't prescribe them, only suboxone! What should I do, & at what dose to start with, pluse, should I just taper off what I'm on, or go on sub.??? Have been on those opiates for 6 years!

the first step is realizing you have had enough, that your sick of chasing the high, your sick of living the life of an addict...you have to want to change, and taking sub, regardless of what you have heard is still a commitment, an d hard work. you cant just take the sub and expect all to be fixed, the underlying issues that caused your addiction are still there. i have been on sub since may, transitioned off methadone, which was no picnic in the park, actually its the worst i ever felt for close to 3 days. BUT it does make you "well" enough to tend to the important issues that led you down the path of addiction.
if you are TRULY ready to be addiction free and enroll in some form of therapy or meetings then, make the commitment and do it, you WILL know when you have had enough...until then try to learn and read all you can about suboxone or subutex, maybe this will give you the inspiration you need to make that commitment..i have alot of info in my profile...read the TIP40 SHEET, pdf file...excellent info...the best i have read yet.  good luck.

a couple of friends don't have a script for sub, so they buy one when no hydro around.  that's the part i'm despartely trying to understand; i've got a script for sub under a drs. care, & it seems i am wasting both the sub & hydro for nothing. and i sure as hell can't financially afford to keep both in stock, because i don't know if the dr. would even give me another script of sub, so i need to make up my mind once and for all.  again, i was told that sub was so strong that it was a big waste of money & effort to take hydro, so that's the reason i am curious about someone who has taken sub with intentions of getting clean (and sticking to it); their experience, w/d & mental, say over a week's time. i guess that is where an addition counselor comes in to find out why i would take hydro after sub knowing i will not get the affect like before.  by the way, since taking the sub that one day, i had to take more hydro, therefore, now i'm taking more than i ever had. i know i am throwing away an important opportunity to get clean, but wonder why in hell i'm being so hardheaded and stupid.

yes, you dissolve sub under tongue for full affect; was told by dr. crushing, snorting, or shooting doesn't work.  so anybody out there can share getting clean with sub, i would greatly appreciate it.

You are not alone in the weak part of giving into the pills. I am an addict as well. I was taking sometimes 4-5 80mg oxcontin per day.  I have ran out of everything good i like and have been scrounging for anything I can find. I found some 7.5 vicodin(GONE NOW) then found some 5mg vicodin(3left) and 1 30mg mscontin(morphine) which I dont even like for the high, but beats the hell out of w/d!  I have tried many times to quit, gotten through the w/d then relapsed.  I am currently abusing again.  I am trying to get to the 28th when I should be able to get a FAT SCRIPT of the drug of my choice.  I had a guy tell me that he could get suboxone(not a dr.) but that they were $20 per 8mg and to dissolve it under my tounge and that it would get me through w/d without feeling bad...  I am curious if i should try this....

i've been told by some also that it works, both mentally & physically.  the day i took it i had no physical symtoms and actually felt some sort of inner contentment and enjoyment.  throughout the day i realized that i felt really good, but i know hydro was still in my system (and i did not have any cravings for more), but that was for only that one day. that's the reason i was wondering about the 2nd, 3rd,  and so on days. but as soon as hydro became available, i had no willpower or discipline whatsoever, and took them and have been since. just like 1234betterlife's comment above, now i'm at the point of just making up my mind & being honest with myself.  this sh** will have to end soon before i really hit bottom, and i admit now that i'm tired of messing with it.  as for the suboxone, back in october, i did make up my mind (so I thought) and went online and researched detox.  suboxone came up and some type of association that offered names of drs. in my area who only can prescribe it; something to do with the DEA. i can't remember exactly what association it was (you'll see it when you research suboxone online), i was able to make an appt. with a dr. (i believe by law they are only allow to treat up to 100 people), went to see him--he explained the entire process, gave me a shot, and prescription for sub.  i paid him $245, because most insurance wouldn't cover it; got the prescription for $8-$10 (insurance covered that), and of course, really encouraged me to see addiction counselling, as well.  he was great, walked out of there with hope and encouragement, until that afternoon, idiot me ran into hydro.  he told me i could take all the hydro i wanted to, but it was a waste of time and money because sub blocks the receptors (which helps craving).  well, he was right, so i didn't take any more sub until recently that one day i didn't have hydro, so now i'm in such a limbo, because it is a waste to be taking hydro and taking sub as a crutch when i run out, actually it is stupid.  so in other words, i have a chance to get off hydro with the help of sub, and i'm just pussyfooting around and ruining this opportunity.  you know, that hope i had when i left that dr. office sure did feel good.  just don't understand why i'm messing it up for myself.  hope this helps.

I haven't even tried the suboxone. I have heard of many people that say they swear by it.  Using it as a crutch isnt the way it is supposed to be used, but at the same time I am an addict who would do the same damn thing at this point. Dont feel bad- you are not alone.  By the way, how did you get your suboxone? how much did it cost?  Did it keep the withdrawls 100% from happening or just a little help? I am VERY CURIOUS  to this drug as well.  I am too weak to quit cold turkey! Thanks and good luck

the worst decision you can make is to use sub to make it to the next fix of your doc. you have to make up your mind which way of life you want. you need to have a serious discussion with yourself when you are not in acute withdrawal or flying high. make that decision and stick with it. if you are not ready to get clean, using sub is just wasting time and money. if you are ready, it can change your life forever. you can live a clean life with adequate followup work in aa/na group therapy, private therapy, whatever is your choice. you seriously need to think of what you want your plan to be. without a plan there will be no success. i wish you all the best. it is slow tonight, so give it time and more will respond to your post. merry christmas to you. i hope you can achieve a happy clean life.
