Indeed we have come to trust doctors to save us from our ills and our pharmacy to be the backstop from accidental cross medicating and even allergies to medications. However I always advise that one never stop asking questions and do your own research. It's your life and in the end you have to look out for you.
Yes, definelty read as much as you can about all the medicines he is taking!!!! I am on Oxycodone, Maxalt, Propranolol, Cymbalta and Ambien. Through my OWN research on these medicines, I found that I should not mix any of them together....but yet, My Dr. nor the Pharmacy told me it was dangerous so at first, I was....I could have died. Luckily, I only take the Maxalt as needed for Migraines and I always take my last pain pill a few hours before bed...so there was a gap in time from taking the oxy and ambien. I also stopped taking the Cymbalta and think that most of my depression is being brought on by knowing I am addicted to pain medicine. As for the Propranolol...this medicine is for a fast, irregular heartbeat...but I am taking them as a beta blocker for migraines and I do have to mix them with my pain medicine. If I go just one day and don't take them, I end up with a migraine the very next day....so those I have to mix. Luckily I will soon be off the pain medicine and then I am going to work on getting off the sleeping pills too. So I would definelty look into all the medicines he is taking and look at all the side effects and the precautions about what medicines he should not take together...I bet you will discover he is taking a lot of different medicines at the same time that is very dangerous.
Good Luck and God Bless
As many meds your husband is taking my best advice is go to his doctor and take every bottle with you and tell him what you and your husbands wishes are. I have had some back surgeries and 1 fusion. Nothing enjoyable about that. Perhaps sooner than later with the hallucinating especially. I'd be just as worried about mixing the medications and the possibility of an accidental overdose. Good luck and GOD bless.
