Methadone withdrawal

My son was locked up 10 days ago.  Prior to this he was on 90mgs of methadone per day for the last 9 months to kick his oxy addiction.  He called from jail tonite and says he feels like he is going to die....vomitting blood, hallucinations, hasn't slept in 3 days.

My question is, how worried should I be?  Can he literaly die? Seizures?  He only gets tylenol when he complains or told to go on med watch, which is naked in a cell while being monitored.  I plan on calling the methadone clinic and ask but any info here would be appreciated.

Call the methodone clinic asap.. Someone should at least be monitoring his blood pressure.. Many an addict have detoxed in jail.. so he is not the first. However i still worry about him being that sick and going unmonitored..

Maybe you guys should ask this person (as beachtowel said) why anyone with a hard oxycontin addiction whould even think of going to a methadone clinic?

vomiting blood is a serious problem. i dont think it has anything to do with the withdrawal though. they say withdrawal from opiates is not life threatening, but if i were you, i would try to get him out because of the vomiting, if you can. i have personally gone through methadone w/d's in jail. after 10 days i was able to eat. after 2 weeks i could sleep somewhat. i was there for 68 days and when i left there, i was normal again
