Oxycodone

I've been on physician-prescribed oxycodone for about two months and am trying to get off by myself.  How many days of hell do I have to go through?  The dosage I've been on has been 10mg per day.  Does that have anything to do with it?  Help would be much appreciated.  I've never been on addictive drugs before.

Based you length of time taking them and the lower dose per day.. you are looking at 3-5 days of feeling like you have the bad flu.. some sleeplessness,, some diarreah, aches, a little anxiety.. Now is a good time to stop you can nip it in the bud before it gets out of control..you doc could give you some meds to make withdrawl easier.. OTC meds help some..

I have been taking these on doctors orders for 4 years now 40mg a day despite telling my GP I want to get off them. He tells me that there is no medical solution and that I must simply withdraw myself 5mg at a time. Is this true ?
