wanted to know

This might seem like a really stupid question but i just wondered how long does it take to get addicted to painkillers? not that i want to do that but i have a feeling i might be already. I used to hate medication and mostly i won't take anything but lately i have been taking painkillers alot and when i don't take them, i feel the need to and i want them, does this mean i am addicted to the them. Would i have needed to be taking them for a years or would weeks or months be enough to be addicted.

Something else for you to consider here..Concerning your feelings of anxiety and depression,,yeah, sure, the pills a have a habit of making you forget about those things and give you a fuzzy warm feeling, and one of the biggest excuses we use to convince ourselves that its ok to take them from time to time for less than legitimate reasons. But that is shortlived..You already are showing signs of the mental attachment these drugs will formulate in your mind. Big warning sign there. Then, you need to understand that thses pain meds will cause anxiety and depression as a side affect as usage progresses..

You need to decide now that it would be in your best interest to get away from them. That feel good affect will be shortlived as you continue to use them leading eventually to a place where you need to take the pills "just" to feel normal..You don't want to go there..And it sounds like if you don't change course now, before you know it, you will be in that place trying to find your way out as so many in this forum are attempting to do right now..

Yes...it's possible to get addicted that quick !!!   Stop now and see a doctor about your headaches.  Tell the doctor you can't take narcotics.  The pills will be your ticket to hell.
I promise you...

Good luck~

I started them a few months ago for tension headaches and generally feeling unwell due to depression and anxiety. At the start i didn't like taking them but after a while they actually made me feel better, and now when i don't take them i want them and the feeling they give.
I'm not sure if i am addicted as i said before i haven't been on them long and i didn't think it possible to get addicted that quick.

Thanks everyone, i haven't been taking them long thats why i asked, but i just sent my partner this evening to buy more as i had a terrible headache he didn't want to because he said i have been taking too many which made me think, am i really. I was sick so i had a good excuse. The strange this is i suffer from depression and anxiety and i won't take medication for it so i wonder how i managed to get addicted to painkillers. I know i need to stop them now, hopefully i can.

First of all I don't think your question is stupid at all, and honestly I think you are already addicted. I think were all different and no way to really tell how long it takes anyone to become addicted so to speak.

Get off them now before it gets worse.

I think you answered this yourself. At least concerning your usage and why you take them. If you are taking them for any other reason then api, you are probably heading down that road to addiction. ? Time to get addicted? It seems everyone is different.
