Thank you so much. My mom was also an alcoholic for many years. I do believe something is wrong with her but she is the type if she had a bullet in her head she would say she was fine. She won't say anything, she's been in the hospital twice this month and so I do believe that's why she wants off. I am the only one she has confided in
I agree with everyone above. I just turned 67, withdrew from Vicodin use of around 3 years in total, and it kicked my butt royal! I did it on my own and enjoyed the support of the folks on this site along with a 12-step support group. So far so good, but it's not easy on the overall health. My concern with your mom is all that Tylenol also. Not good on the liver. She really needs medical supervision detoxing from all that. Also, follow up support groups help with keeping clean. The detoxing is an event, staying clean is a process.
We're generally powerless over the actual will of other people. We can suggest, but we can't make them want to quit. It's truly a matter of the drug user finally being fed up with using. So glad to hear the your mom is finally fed up and ready to stop using. I wish both of you the best!
Im am feeling quite well. I started taking some vitamins, just a little fatiguish is all. Going to the bathroom has stopped no rls, I've been very blessed with having minor wd's. It is or was mostly anxiety. Thank you
I agree with NG. Due to her age she needs to be monitored by a doctor. Congrats on 8 days!! How are you feeling?
I was thinking the same about her age as well as everything else. Thank you. She wanted to come to my house to do it but I am only on day 8 myself. I will have to find her a supervised detox center. thanks again
Hello there. Opiates are opiates, they're all addictive. Codeine would be considered less addictive officially, but at this point, with the extent of your Mom's use, the amount she's taking, and the duration, she's got a substantial problem.
For some people it is safe to detox at home. With your Mom's advanced age, and with the amount she's taking, I would strongly recommend she look into a medically supervised detox. Just my opinion.
Best of luck to her!
