I want to go to one but scared. With my profession if someone found out I'd be done. Don't know what to do... I do have a counseling session scheduled for July 2.
NA Is an anonymous program. If you are in with the right group it should stay that way. Besides, you are the only professional in the group. You would be surprised. So they need to feel safe just like you.
My experience with NA has been very positive and people mind your privacy. I would say you are safe as it is a group for helping each other and people are typically very considerate. Worst case, if it makes you feel more comfortable I would recommend just stating a different profession so nobody knows. You could even maybe go to one that is in a different town that you usually never visit to keep it even more confidential. They are usually great groups with great people looking to help each other, at least in my area. I'm sure others can chime in on their experience as well.
