Daylight savings and insomnia

Anyone else relatively early in their recovery completely thrown off by DST?? I am getting around 6 hrs of sleep but waking up this morning and seeing 4am after going to bed at 11 was aggravating!

Being a farmer by nature, I live by daylight and seasons, not hours and calendar months. I find DLST a bother, even as a farmer. The sun still comes up at the same time, but now I am wasting daylight prepping kids for school, when I was doing that while it was cold and still a little dark. I actually lose an hour a day of work, because someone else is saving daylight for the factories. DLST was developed in Germany during war, so the factories would use less electricity in development of munitions and war machines, it wasn't farmers. It helps the corporate moguls save money, that is about it, that is why most people don't want it, but we get it anyway.

As for sleep, I didn't notice, because the sun still rises and sets at the same time, only our clocks have changed. I guess having no concept of time in my head is a benefit in this situation. You will adjust, seems to take a few days for our habits to change to a new natural state. I haven't set an alarm in over 20 years. The acadian rhythm of nature keeps me in sync.  Good luck, don't let this bother you, it is a small obstacle in the grand scheme of recovery.

It definitely doesn't come at a good time when you're detoxing that's for sure.  But like one of the other posters said you'll be at one more day sober an hour earlier that previously.

I can't sleep either. I am lucky if ever 3 or 4 days I get 4 hours. I have tried everything except tryptophan . I will get some ASAP . Thanks for sharing.

I cannot recommend prescribed tryptophan enough.
100% natural sleep aid which is a mood stabilizer and seratonin booster.  I take 3000 mg at bed time which has replaced numerous pharmaceuticals.  I am the worst insomniac in the world and I sleep 8-10 hrs a night.  It helps increase the length and quality of your sleep.  I take it with Melatonin.  Because it is natural it does take a little longer to build in your system to work.  I wish someone had told me about it when I was in early recovery....So...Now I'm telling you all (:

My tracker says I'm at 37 but at every 4pm it starts a new day, so 38 for me. Woke up at 4 (normal 5) and literally didn't have anything to do besides make sure my fantasy football teams were set and read the online news going on before even thinking about breakfast.  BRUTAL! Heres hoping both of us can start sleeping a full night for 8 hours

I cannot STAND daylight savings time...it should be abolished!!!!   I believe there are one or 2 states (Arizona?) that have stopped it.

We aren't living in an primarily farming culture anymore, so I do not understand the point of DST.  And having total darkness at 4:30 in the afternoon is SO depressing.

I consider myself early in recovery (37 days).  I woke up at 2, 3, and 4 am.  Finally just caved in and got up.
