no more vicodin,tapering off Tramadol

Have some Tramadol I am taking.  I am down to 4 a day.  I plan to go down to 2 a day, then 1 a day until I am done!

Any thoughts on how long I should take to do this?   I tried going cold turkey off vicodin about a month and a half ago, but went 4 days and had my last script filled.  I have been out of that for about a week, and taking Tramadol ever since. I was taking up to 6 of these per day.

Thank you very much for your advice.  I am unable to talk to the doc today or this weekend.  I think I will taper down to one pill, twice a day starting tomorrow.  I will do that until Monday.  I will only take one on Monday morning and Tues morning.  After that, I quit!! and I will flush the rest.  I will also try and call the doc on Monday.  He takes a while to get in to see and you can never talk to him on the phone.  He's a Neurosurgeon that thinks he's God, and will not talk on the phone.    :(

I will stay on here and read more posts and post myself over the weekend.  You are a godsend!!!

Hi,

Glad to see you are getting off of the pills. We cannot give you advise on how much Tramadol to take, it is a violation of our guidelines. I will say that you should not take it unless you under a doctor's care. Tramadol withdrawal can be dangerous in that you could have seizures during the process. Not everyone does, but I have heard enough stories of those that did.

I think it would be best, and you would be safest, to speak with the doctor who prescribed the Vicodin. He will be able to help you with a proper taper.

I wish you the best and I hope it all works out for you.

I only have access to 30-40 Tramadol and then they are gone...no chance of getting anymore.  I got these from my cousin, they were her mom's who recently passed away.
I can't take any time off work, otherwise, I would just go cold turkey.

Please give me some advice???

Thank you!
