Try benadryl (diphenhydramine) for sleep - up to 100 mgs / it comes OTC in 25 mg formulary. Start there. Also try celestial seasonings sleepytime tea an hour or two before hitting the sack. Dont forget the value of a warm bath/shower either. You can take the benadrykl with melatonin (only 1 or 2) and you may want to even consider meditation or more homeopathic methods. Valerian root and kava kava have both had good reviews by some people. Just use your head while you get the theraqpy down. Dont over medicate because your in a hurry! And just use these methods to get past the w/d's symptoms - dont replace one problem with another.
oh sh t tyl makes rls worse. Thanks, Screw gen practiioner I did not go to my appt this week cause I don't want any benzos at all. Screw all of those narcotics. Thats why I want this so bad. Doc says I have to take pain meds for good I say I want to be off of them she says methadone? Morphine pump. I say what the hell I'll just stop this madness once and for all I hope!!!! THey can't understand or won't understand.
blade thanx for the tip on the tylenol, i only use it when i cant sleep, dont have rls or any pill addictions. but now i know they may cause more rls symptoms, so thanx for that!!
mike i reread some of GTMI post and he says they say 3 mg on the bottle, but you can take up to 10mgs. hope this helps, and you can just search goingtomakeit to see where he has posted the 10 mgs thing...
Tylenol PM and benedryl are some of the worst things, though, if you have RLS type of symptoms (restless leg). The chemical in them stimulates that part of your body. Eat lots of potassium, and melatonin can work. I have some presciption xanax, but I heard valium will work better or klonopin if you can get your doctor to give you a FEW. These people are NOT doctors (nor am I) but we're all going through this and can try to tell you what has worked for us. Google the Tylenal PM and RLS and see what you find. If you don't have RLS, it will probably work for you. Hang in there, buddy. Hell, I'm only on day 2 of cold turkey...I'm just trying to stay positive!

mike , try some melatomin (sp?) it is a vitamin supplement i think, it will help with the sleep, send goingtomakeit a message, they can tellya the exact spelling and milligrams you can take.. i use tylenol pm when i cant sleep. but i ask GTMI about the melatomin, they say it really helps
