Rapid Detox?

Anyone familiar with the Rapid Detox programs?  anyone heard of any actual success rates by doing something like this?  I called a TX center in my neighborhood and they wanted $8500 -- in one day and out the next.

Can I ask where you went for your rapid detox and what you were using? I'm on methadone and not sure if it will work for me? Thanks!!!

I have done it and it works!!! There is a problem if you have to have surgery in the future like I did a year after the rapid detox you can easily become dependent on the meds once again. I would do it again in a heart beat if I could afford it. Just make sure you go to the right place like I did staff was amazing.

Rex did you really start your detox in Dec? Some of your posts remind me of just how much more I need to learn. Your answer to Jenn C was right on target. When I was reading it I immediatly tried to figure out a way to tell her to get them. If my brain were like a computer my default button is still set at "deceitful". It will be nice when my first reaction is sensible and appropriate. You are amazing!

Tee....so? how was golf?

Does anyone know where I can get the valium part of the Thomas recipe? Every doc I've talked to says they don't like to prescribe it because it's too addictive.

Klonopin, Zanax, or ATivan are all candiates. Level with them and tel them you will only be using it in the short term. You likely need 30 pills or less with no refills.

Most docs should have no problems with that. You will have anxiety during detox, so you should use these albeit sparingly.

Good luck

I just want you all to know how much I have appreciated your posts and stories. It is now a ritual for me to read everyday. You all in your own way have given me support and re-assurance that taking my life is not the answer. Its really hard to go on day to day, and without all of you I would be lost. SO THANK YOU...... I think about you all everyday..... Sincerely, Erika

8 days is so great! Hang on your only going to feel better as each day passes. The depression your feeling is real but its also temporary. Your body is trying to figure out where all the feel good hormones are. Right about now your body realizes its not getting any unless it makes them again. So your slowly rebuilding and will be feeling better in no time. I'm so glad you posted girl. I admire your reaching out at eight days I couldn't reach the remote much less me willing enough to ask for a bit of help. Your helping someone probably lots of people right now and you probably don't even know it.
(((hugs to you))))

Don't forget to leave the hot water in the tub so you can keep getting in and out because of the RLS. Keep drinking and try to eat, the more you force down the sooner you'll feel better.

Good morning everyone, CTGirl checking in.  Its been 24 hours since I took my last pill and so far my WD's have not been as bad as I made them out to be!  I am experiencing pretty mild WD symptoms, my body aches all over, I cant sleep more than 4 hours per night and I keep making many trips to the bathroom.   I am so glad I have been able to make it this far.  I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you out there who came to my rescue and posted words of encouragement, I really needed to hear those words! You guys dont know how much it helps me to have people who have been there, can identify with my fears and have made a successful attempt detoxing at home.  The trazadone is really helping to keep me calm!  I didnt have my usual "mini" panic attacks which is good.  I think the worst part of my WD so far has been the sleeplessness and the many trips to the bathroom, but its all a relatively small price to pay.  If I would of continued getting as many pills that I did I probably would have ended up overdosing or in jail.  Its absolutely insane the amount of pills I would take in 1 day, upwards of 15-25 pills!  Anyhow, life is slowly getting better by each minute and hour, I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel today.   More later.   CTG.

Maybe its better to go through the pain of W/D, so that you will remember how hard it is before you relapse. Might make you think. Just a thought on my part. I know the rapid thing sounds so tempting but then what????....that's always my problem= finding new ways of coping.
All the best, Robyn.

You're right...Rex & Suzie ARE GREAT!!! Take their advice on this. Your anxiety is warranted but not needed. Detox is hard but addiction is harder. I'll be praying for you & your upcoming high dive as Rex so geniusly put it.

FINISHED!!

WEll that sounds interesting but not much better thant the real thing at home.  It may take one or 2 days more at home but is cheaper and in familiar surroundings and many have it much less worse than we anticipate.  To me the advantage of a rapid detox is to not experience withdrawal.  But i am glad u were happy with it and it worked well for u.
Thanks for the compliment!  I have lots lots to learn believe me!  It s the oldies like Hippee, Thomas, etc. that have the true wisdom and experience.  I cherish them.  But i also cherish all of you and your honesty and willingness to expose your secrets to us all so we can share and grow and support together!
Suzie hugs ya!

When I relapsed 8 monthes after treatment I met someone in recovery who referred me to my current MD. He's an addictionologist and this is the part I want you to read: HE DOES RAPID DETOX WITH NO ANESTHESIA IN ONE WEEKEND FOR AROUND $500 PLUS A PRIOR APPOINTMENT AND A FOLLOW UP INCLUDED! HE DOES IT CHEAP BECAUSE HE IS THAT DEDICATED TO HELPING ADDICTS!!!If he does it there have to be others that do it also. He has a method that starts off with a buprinex taper. He gives you a combination of meds on Friday. Everybody is different so I don't think its a good idea to tell people what mix he gave me, but it had a med to relieve the diarrhea another for leg spasms, one for sleep, one for nausea/vomiting, a benzo and pain. Sat. morning you take some pre-withdrawal meds drink two big bottles of gatoraide and then a dose of Revia which he gives according to your specific circumstances. He then gives you the other meds to take as needed to make the whole thing a little more tolerable. In 1 hour you are in full blown withdrawal and feel really really bad for 24 hours, I was delirious and speaking in tongues according to my husband...poor guy, I think he thought I was possesed. By Sunday night you'll be up and eating and Monday back to work. Tired and weak but able to function. I did it and thought I was gonna die! It was really really bad but there are 2 excellent things about detoxing this way. 1) It's fast 2) It's what I use to remember why I can't take pills ever again. Apparently from some of the other patients who I have talked with personally, have even slept through it. I didn't exactly do what I was supposed to so I suffered more than most. Let me know if anyone needs more info. I swear he was instrumental in my being clean this past year. I see him once a month and he keeps me in check big time with my "hidden triggers". I owe him my life.

Rapid Detox

As much as I would like to believe in this method and finacially am able, I to have heard serious medical complications have happened as a result of this purely for profit, could care less about you or your addiction detox process. IMHO The Doc can probably confirm this, but I know I have read where several people have died as a reult of rapid detox.

We all could always try cryonics, freezing the body, until all withdrawls pass.  They currently are useing this method for dead people who have died and are rich enough for the process.  When a cure comes along a hundred years later for their disease the supposedly bring them back to life. Morbid, yet desperate people do desperate things.

Withdrawls and all it's pain and insanity is a neccesary part of stopping drugs. I do know where your coming from, if I added up the days I have spent in withdrawls in the last 30 years it would add up to a year or so. Keep a journal to remind when you think you can use once. Believe it or not I consider this last month a gift, I had given my life and soul over to a power stronger than me. ADDICTION.  You can do this, use the recipe, post your feelings and get a support group when you are feeling better.

I can tell you this, I can look at myself in the mirror without self loathing and disgust that I just can not stop using.  That is a freedom, and as with all freedoms I had to fight the devil himself to get it back.  CTG, just take it a day at a time.  It takes GREAT courage to do what you know in your heart must be done.  You are in my prayers and WD for you may not be as bad as it is for others.

Hi,

I also looked into rapid detox, but I have heard a lot of negative issues on it.  They did a 60 minutes show on it once, the girl said they told her that she would feel no pain & withdrawal when she woke up,She woke up to full fledge withdrawal systems!  And supposedly they last for quite some time.  After spending all that money what a waste! I wouldn't recommend it, thats for sure. Slow is the only way to go!

Thanks for your encouragement.  I dont know what Id do without you two, you guys are the best at giving advice.  I always look for your posts when I log onto this site.   Anyhow, I really wasnt going to try the rapid detox, mainly curious about it.  I have to admit I am getting very antsy about my upcoming detox, its scaring the hell out of me, half the time I think alright already just go ahead and do it, think of all the success stories out there but then another side of me says "you can get more pills if you really want to" and it tears down my wall of courage I have built up.  However, I do have 1 plus side to this, my wonderful husband has said, and repeatedly, that he'll be there for me to rub my legs, back, run a hot bath, basically do everything he can to help me get through this!  He keeps telling me that I can do it and it really wont be as bad as I am psyching it up to be.  I have some trazadone that I took last nite for the first time and it REALLY HELPED with the restlessness I usually feel if I dont take a pill every 6 hours!  I had absolutely no restlessness, only a calm feeling when I woke up this morning, and thats a plus considering I didnt take any pill since last evening at 7:30!  Small steps toward my goal I guess.

You dont need that rapid detox where they put u under anesthesia!  You can do this.  Its not as bad as u think!  The vitamins and Thomas recipe makes the withdrawal much easier believe me!  He researched it for years!  Why not make it easier on yourself?  I agree with REXster.  It will be fine and you will be free and clear this time next week.  Go for it woman!  You dont know how strong u r!
'We are all here for you!
Love and hugs!
