Pregnancy and pain pills

Hi there, this is for anyone who is scared and needs some advice about pregnancy and pain medication, more specifically percocets.  I am 25 weeks pregnant and have been taking percocets most of my 2nd trimester.  Before I became pregnant, I was taking Tylenol ones for anow injury I had years ago.  This is my first pregnancy and I was scared **** less!  I was never prescribed perks so I was buying them off the street, I would take 1 to 3 maybe twice or three times a week but there would be days I wouldn't take them.  The thing about these pain meds is that your baby will be fine! The only thing the doctors are worried about is the withdrawal symptoms after birth because the supply has been cut off once he or she is born.  It is best to stop now but make sure you tell your doctor because they can look for the signs of withdrawal and help them.  I spoke to my OB about this and she said as long as I stop now, the baby will be fine! It is BEST not to take anything at all during pregnancy but we don't live in a perfect world and I want to tell all the women who are worried about this that it will be okay! Communicate with your doctor and if you don't feel any withdrawals, you will be okay and so will your baby! I cannot speak for women  who are highly addicted (5+ pills a day, everyday) but I do know someone who was very highly addicted.  Her baby was born will horrible withdrawals after she finally got help with the methadone program (NOT recommended) and the baby was in the hospital for a month, she gave birth at full term but he was only 4 pounds! Please get help and talk to your doctor.  Hope this helps anyone who is having anxiety about this, I finally stepped up and asked everything because I was scared and I am known to turn to Dr. Google for help.  Good luck everyone!

What about someone who has taken 1 hydrocodone 10mg a day half in the morning and half in the evening? What's the withdrawal like on that? And not everyday but the majority.

If they are prescribed,  I wouldn't worry too much because your doctor knows about it and he/she will work with you.  I was taking 3 to 4 a day, but tapered off and it wasn't prescribed to me.  I wouldn't worry about 1 a day, but if they aren't prescribed, just be honest with your doctor, they won't be upset, they want to make sure your baby is healthy just like you :)

If you need pain meds during a pregnancy they should be coming from your doctor.  I am glad you came clean with your OB about this.  Keeping you and baby safe is the most important thing here.  All the best~
