Vicodin Addiction

I have been taking vicodin for 3 years and here lately I have been taking up to 5 a day. I had a hysterectomy last year and thought I'd be all better but no so. I stopped this past summer for 3 weeks and the withdrawals werent so bad but I just kept hurting in my lower back so I started them again. Here lately I feel like I dont know who I truly am, I cant tell if its me or the pills anymore. I am irritable, grouchy, snappy and I can tell its causing me to not be able to focus like I should be able to. I feel like crap and start hurting every 3 hours and I now truly believe its the pills and my body telling me that I'm hurting or not feeling well, I dont truly believe I actually need them and I really want to stop taking them. I was thinking about taking a week and go somewhere to get help to detox. I'm afraid of doing this for a number of reasons, what if I really do need them and going to a detox place means it will show on record and I will never be able to get them again. I am depressed and its causing alot of stress in my marriage, my husband doesnt know how to help me and I know he's getting very un-happy with me being so hyper and grouchy all the time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I go to the hospital or should I spend the money and actually go somewhere nicer or is there really a reason to even go someplace nicer. I just want help, and if it means spending the money to get real help then I'm willing to do so.

if you really want off of the pills, do what you think is best. i've never heard of anything going on your record if you were to actually go somewhere and get the help you feel that you need. when i came off of the pills, i went CT on my own. no assistance from medical professionals or any other medications. but then again, the way i did it may not be the way for a lot of people. but to me, IMO, it was the best route for myself as well as other people whom i saw post here all the time, going through the same thing i did.

my reasoning for going CT off the vicodin and percocet without the assistance of medical professionals or other medications was because i've heard far too many stories about people leaning on one drug as a crutch in place of the pills they're trying to get off of. i know that going the other route has helped a lot of people though.

if you need someone to talk to, please let us know. i took two weeks off from work and paid for it greatly -- but at the same time, i got my life back. and that's far more important to me than a paycheck. life is good. four years sober.

Hi most teatment centers will take u off of them c/t and give u a non-addictive drug. You do learn alot if you can focus while you feel bad. There are many many treatments that do differnt ways like non-12step or they have u go to meetings. As for my experience I do believe you can do a taper and try not to do the merry-go round- from one drug to another. You have to find someone whom you trust and that they can dull them out. Most likely they should not be in the house because for me I could sniff them out and find them. Then when you feel kinda funkie we have lots of experience here that can take you step by step in natual, otc or even precribe meds to help. (NON addictive) This site is full of all knds of things like vit/mins, protein drinks on & on rsl things to use. energy sups. Just do it your way and we can help with the w/d to make it go much easier. You have to stay away from any user friend too. I think from my experience and I have seen it happen here if you just stick it out here you can do it. Then you can save the money and we all can have a big BBq on you  Ha!
God Bless u in want ever you decide to do.
