Day 4 off Hydro C/T

Well it's day 4 now and I can't say things are feeling much better yet. I did actually get a bit of sleep last night so that was good but it was very unrestful. I figured out that if I take a super hot bath and then basically run to the bed while the slight improvement in my restless legs is still in effect and I can usually fall asleep for at least a couple of hours. Then I start that process all over again...

But I woke up this morning feeling like I got run over by a truck. Legs are still a mess, some stomach cramps from not eating, tired as all get out. It wouldn't be nearly so bad if I didn't have to be at work right now and could just deal with it at home.

Taking a walk with my fiancee last night really helped while we were walking but when I got back home the legs started right back up... :( She's really been such a help in all of this.

And, of course, when it rains it pours...They took my fiancees gandmother off life support last night so we don't know how much longer she will be with us. AND my dog started getting sick all over the place last night\this morning.

This is easily the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. But I am trying to just push through it because I know it is better on the other end and I WILL be the husband I know I can be to my fiancee! I just can't wait for this all to be over!

81 hours!

How is everyone else is stopped recently making out? Any improvement yet?

No I have never talked with a doc about the RLS. But then again it has NEVER been like this. I really do think it is the w/d that is causing it and it does seem to be getting slightly better over time. I believe there are some prescriptions for it (crazily enough, one I know for a fact that they use is hydro...ughh). But I really want to avoid any other drugs if at all possible.

Yep day 5 today! YAY!

Congraats on your progress...my observatiopn is that most of us take years to get here bu8t want to be done in days. It won't be that way. I am at 2 1/2 mos or so and it still isn't incredibly easy even if the strict wd's are gone. And it took a couple of weeks to get there. Try some benadryl for sleep if you want to. Stick with the warm baths/showers etc. Lots of folks here are full of advice and you will make it bck to tthe fiance and you will enjoy everything so much more in a couple of weeks. But it will start to get slowly better by about day 5-7....unlesss you are like  me and have a 40 year habit, that took a little longer. But I did do it. And I am surely glad!!!  We are on your side.

Thanks!  It feels good to know I have control of my life again.

Have you ever seen a doctor for the rls?  It may not just be the withdrawals that are causing your problems.  Is there a prescription medication for rls, hopefully one that is non-habit forming?

You are on day 5 now, right?  That is fantastic!  It is amazing how you can find out just how strong you are when going through this pain.

The RLS was still pretty bad overall last night. It calmed a bit for a little while but as soon as it got near to bed time it flared back up again pretty good. Got a bit of sleep but again it wasn't real restful and was over far too soon.

I have been drinking the purple vitamin water (potassium supposed to help with RLS), the orange one (again with Potassium and vitamin C) and occasionally the lemonade one (which is like a mini-multi.)

Congrats on one week!!!

I know I should be steering clear of the fastfood but it was the only thing that really appealed to me at the time and I figure it is better than nothing.

I like the yellow vitamin water.  It has caffeine in it, which I find helps with my headaches.  Jersey, you made it man.  Get through work today and you can take it easy for a couple of days.  How was your rls last night?  Did you get any sleep?

I am one week with no pills!!!

Hope you're doing well today.  You should be rounding the corner on the withdrawals.  When you eat something, make sure it is a healthy balanced meal.  NO FASTFOOD!  All the **** they put into fastfood nowadays is like rat poison to an addict withdrawing.  After about 10-12 days you can eat it again sparingly.  Remember, your body is repairing itself and needs all the nutrients it can get to help with the process.

Did you research the Melatonin?

Thanks! I am hanging in there. Legs are still acting up but it seems to subside just a bit at times. I forced myself to eat some chicken mcnuggets and french fries last night and it made me feel a bit ill but I know I need to get some food in me. Just wish I could get a decent night's sleep!

good job! hopefully the physical symptoms subside soon! i am on a second attempt as well, so i am on day 4 and feel like i have the bad flu...and its horrible. im at work as well, so i know what you mean. supposed to be working 7am-7pm but i am not sure that i can make it today. i may have to go home in between jobs and take a nap if i can! one thing that has been helping me are those vitamin waters by glacier....the antioxident one and the green tea one, been drinking like 3 a day and it helps me feel a little better. thats about it though. my massive headache hasn't gone away yet and i would love to crawl in the bed right now!! but it's almost over....then it's time to get through the mental aspect....ugghh...

You're almost there, stay strong!  I tried to stay as busy as possible after the horrible first two days were over with, and I lived in the bath tub for a few days.  I got down to 103 pounds, so I had to work at getting my weight back up to a healthy number, because I couldn't eat and I felt like I'd been hit by a truck.  It's been 5 1/2 weeks for me now (I stopped counting days) and I feel fantastic.  You'll get there, just keep going.

Thanks!  I think I am going to take another walk with my fiancee after work today. The movement, coldness and great company seemed to really help. I always seem to feel better around her. :) I guess that's love for you! :) Glad to hear you are doing so well!

But anyways try to stay busy and exercise as soon as u can force yourself,  THIS HELPED ME ALOT.  Think the sweating takes alot of the toxins out..  Keep up the good work!!!!   You will be a new person by christmas !!!!

Thanks! You have been a real help to me in all of this! Congratulations on one week! Keep it up!!

I noticed earlier that my nose doesn't seem to be running as much. My legs are still a wreck today though.

I tried choking down a protein shake since I haven't been eating the past few days but only got about 3/4's through before it came back up. (sorry to gross anyone out.)

i've also been trying to drink alot more fluids today.

I really hope you are right! This is rough but I AM going to make it! :) I don't see as how I have any choice. I do not ever want to go through this again.

You are right on the verge.  Day 4 was the day i saw the most improvement.  Keep it up.  For me, the physical symptoms stopped on day 4, and ever since has been a gradual improvement of my mental state.

At 5:15 today, i will be one week clean!  Going strong!

Please keep us updated with your status today.  I have a feeling when this day is over, you will have a new lease on life.

Thanks Michael I truly appreciate it.

I tend to have problems with anything that has a sleepaid in it like that. It typically makes my restless legs WORSE if you can believe that.

It is possible regarding my dog. He's also epileptic and we just went through a horrible spell there where we though he was going to have to be put down because we couldn't get him to stop seizing so I REALLY hope he doesn't have any issue like that again. I couldn't handle that too right now...

On about day 13 here and feeling great.  I went cold turkey too, and started seeing a noticeable improvement by day 5.  Try some night time flu medication about 30 min to an hour before bed.  It does help.

I'm sorry to hear about your fiance's grandmother.  They will be in my prayers, as will you.

Sounds like you dog is having sympathy pains for you or is detoxing too.  You might want to keep a close eye on 'em.

Thanks for your support! I have been dealing with the mental part on and off already too. My fiancee gave me a leg massage last night to try and help with the RLS but beyond that I really don't have access to a massage therapist unfortunately. Hot baths, Hot Baths, Hot Baths. That's been my motto.

This has to get somewhat better soon right? I am going out of my mind right now.

Hi, I have 6 days. I did have 2 weeks and used again, which caused me to go back to the uncomfortable body ache, cold, and toilet. So I can say that I did feel much better every day physically. I was told the physical part would be followed by the mental part and it is. It's amazing how crazy my thoughts are. I almost got a tatoo put on my right hand to remind myself that I don't want it to put a pill in my mouth again. HA!  Thank God  I'm affraid of needles. Keep going one day at a time.  If you have access to a massage therapist it really helps me. Vitimans, water, hot baths, steamroom, and prayer.
