TRAMADOL/ULTRAM

I took this once before because due to a back injury, I was given Vicodin ans getting concerned about the narcotic in it. Started noticing myself going up. The Doc gave me a "Non-narcotic" med called Tramadol. Great, tried it, it just bounced off. So I took a little more to get the pain reduced. But the prescription ran out and now this "Non-narcotic" has got me feeling worse than I did with Vicodin. A LOT> My head feels like it's in an oven, I ache every imaginable spot, I fell asleep driving and wrecked. My nose is running like crazy and I feel horrible. I gotta CT this now, my next refill wouldn't be a few weeks anyway.Keep in mind I have some left but want no part of it, not if this is the result but I look back and saw how many I took over a week and I'm scared. Can anyone give me a prognosis here? Can I get out of this CT? Little scared here....will these symptoms go away? Been doing research on the drug and I about fell off my chair. All I got was nasty comments. Just tell me what do do. I can't let anyone except my wife know because I am in a job where I have 3 years left to go and I'll get canned.

....is a good sign since I don't even want to look at that stuff again. Makes me sick thinking about it.....thanks to all, if 5-7 days is the worst, I'm half through. NEVER AGAIN. My fault for geting hooked, but the doc said there was no chnace of that ecause it wasn't narcotic. Are they misinformed or clueless? That had to be others than me in this doctors career.

I am with vicki on this, I ct off of Tramadol 37 days ago and have been clean since.   It is very do-able just gonna be a rough 5 days.  Hylands for the RLS was a Godsend for me because that what got me the most.  Immodium was also a must.  Since Tramadol has an antidepressant in it I started taking St John's Wort and 5htp (natural supplements) to help stave off the depression and anxiety and they helped a ton.   As far as the risk of seizures from what my Dr. told me and from what I  have read that risk is more from taking too much Tramadol or taking it with a SSRI AD rather than from WDing from it.  Unfortunately WDing from Tram has a double whammy effect because you are not only coming off of the synthetic opiate in it but also from the antidepressant.  Hang in there and be sure to check in with your Dr. if you need too.  After day 5-7 you really do start to see improvement every day.  Take care!  Blessings, Lisa

Hi~  You don't need to go to rehab.  You're in withdrawal. It's recommended that tram be tapered. Some have gone cold turkey. It's your call.  It would be good to call your doctor so he/she knows what's going on. There are meds that will help with those withdrawals;like clonodine which is a B/P med.
Generally,it's more comfortable with this drug to taper off. So,if you have some try to do that but still call the doctor in the morning.

Drink A LOT of water. Drink apple or orange juice. Get some Hylands Restful Legs at Walgreens. RLS is a bad symptom. So is insomnia. Get Nyquil without the decongestant for sleep and anxiety.  Hot baths help and feel great.

There is an antidepressant in that Tramadol that has a real "let down" effect depending on how long you've been taking it.

You'll be okay. Call the doctor and keep posting!

you need to call your doc because  coming of tram can be dangerous such as possible seizures.  Your doc can either help taper you if you have the ability/will power or you need to go to rehab.  good luck and take care of yourself.  Let us know what happens.
