Tapering Success

Well, I have only one "quarter" piece of a vicodin left.  Gonna save it for tomorrow.

(I actually found two big, fat, juicy 7.5 mg Vicodins tucked away) But, I didn't touch them.  I know, you want me to flush them...I may need to piece those up in quarters if tomorrows last quarter doesnt work.

However, I feel REALLY good and hopeful.  I have been taking a klono at night when I start getting really really anxious, which is not nearly as bad as a few days ago.  I have also been taking my vitamins religiously.  They really help with the leg aches/cramps.

I am thinking about having to go to the dentist, and I know I will have to flat out tell the dentist NOT to give me any Vics.  I have made up a speech in my mind what to tell any doctor if they wanna give me anything like that.  I feel very strongly about it.  I hope I continue to feel this.  I really don't want to be a slave to a medication again.  It is basically TOO MUCH TROUBLE!

I am very concerned about the "memory loss" I have experienced in the last YEAR.  I understand this is related to the vicodin?  I have too much to remember.  I can't afford to forget any of it!

Thanks for all of ya'lls support.

"MemoryLoss" There is one I can relate to. Can't remember anything beyond a minute or two. I mean I have long term memory but I get distracted and forget what I was doing. Yea, I'm with you on that one.

I started to taper yesterday and I was wondering how much you cut each dose and how often did you make the cut?

I was prescribed Vic last February for "stomach pain". (turned out to be IBS).  Then I had dental work - more vicodin.  I never went a month without vicodin for the last year.

I now realize that the stomach pain was exacerbated by the Vicodin. (duh).  But I didnt really care because the nice warm fuzzy feeling was worth it.

Yes, I need to find a program in my area because I don't ever wanna feel this junk again.  I know I am going to have "cues" that make me want a pill again.  Every day.  I want to get the help I can while I still feel strong.

Thanks so much, goingtomakeit - I am "goingtomakeit"!  Your support has been wonderful.  It helps to pop on this forum everyday for me.

Will keep ya'll posted

Hey there girl. You are doing great! Way to go. You've stuck it out. Don't take th 2 vics if you don't need them. It is good to hear from you. I am proud of you for sticking through this. LoLv

I don't know your whole story, just from what I've read from the post. Are you coming off Vicodin because they were prescribed for pain, are because you were just abusing them, or both. If so, do you have any plans for further treatment.  The easy part (although it may seem hard now) is stopping, the hard part, is to stay stop. If you have the problem of staying stopped, I suggest a 12 step program, like AA or NA. You can type in Intergroup AA on Google and find a meeting in your area.
