Hi
I have been addicted to Vicodin for about 4 years now! I started when I found out after a year of pain in my hips that got so bad I needed get a cane. This because I had a business that requires a state certification I could not leave to have the recommended hip replacement for another 1 1/2 years. I first received neproxin for inflammation and Vicodin 40 regular strength for pain. This until I could see my regular doctor who raised the amount. Having Kaiser seeing your regular doctor can be a problem so I made a same day visit to my wife's doctor who when seeing by that time I was taking 8 or 9 a day changed my dose to Vicodin ES and a limit of 6 a day prescription of 240! Now for those who know on the manufacture's label it say's no more than 5 a day. I had the hip replaced a year ago yesterday the doctor who is the head of the department said it was the worst one he had ever done considered it a miracle I walked in that day. My surgeon now fills 40 regular strength every two weeks on top of what the other doctor give's me because I need the other hip replaced also. On top of that my attending doctor recommended morphine 2 a day last for 12 hrs Ha Ha which I took for 3 months and found out I was having a hard time breathing under exertion so I quit them a month ago on my own! I am telling you all this because it starts with pain and turns into a craving for that feeling not just less pain but well being! I have also had two other time's that I was hooked on Vicodin and quit cold turkey on my own! Today at 6 P.M. will be 1 week since I quit taking them again! This is no fun and I would hate to think what it would be if I was taking from 30 to 100 a day as I have read in other posts. If you have taken 90 in less than two weeks you need to see you doctor and get something else for the pain! Ask about Morphine it worked for me at night but would only last about 6 hrs during the day I have a lot of walking to do! It is not supposed to give you the high feeling yet does helps control the pain? At least that is how my doctor explained it? Don't be offended by well meaning comments do a little research you will not like what you read!
maybe you should call him and ask him why he said that?? i understand about your pain, i think we are always just worried about people getting addicted..Only you know your pain, and i am sorry you are hurting..

Maybe I posted this in the wrong place. I am not concerned about addiction. I can't wait for the MRI I'm supposed to have so we can find out what the heck is going on and I can be pain-free. But until then, I'm not going to live with this excruciating pain and not take the meds I need because I'm scared of addiction. Don't mean for that to sound rude...sorry if it does. Just want to not hurt anymore!!! And I am just confused as to why my doctor would tell me to wait and not go to the pharmacy "right away". I have never had a dr tell me that.
Hi, just wanted to drop a line to say. PleasePlease be careful of the opiate you are taking. It is hard core in a little white pill. They can destroy your life as you know it now. Ask the many that frequent this forum.
Do you have insurance??/ if you are in pain and really need it, i would fill it and NOT use my insurance...it is not expensive..you don't want to set up any red flags....
You may have to pay for these "out of pocket". Insurance companies are not happy doing multiple scripts for the same opiate within 30 days. What you're doing is not illegal. The pharmacy may have to call your doc, and insurance may not pay, but there's nothing wrong with what you're doing. But, please be careful. A lot of us on here started out like this and were snake bit before we knew it. Just use with caution.
you should be able to fill them...Plus you said it is a new script right?? not a refill??..it sounds like the math is correct so i don't see the problem..

The insurance companies don't like to fill a 90 count script and then do it again for 40 of the same type of pill 2 or 3 weeks later. Most scripts are to written for 30 days unless the medication has changed to something stronger. Red flags go up when multiple scripts of the same drug are filled in a single month. The insurance companies have established what criteria they think you should be taking for any given illness. It is just the way it is. Good luck to getting off of these as soon as possible. I understand pain, I have one to two kidney stones per month.
Well, I'm not sure how long they were supposed to last??? I am to take 2 every four hours as needed (and it's ALWAYS needed!), so if I do the math on that, they would only last 15 days. That was yesterday, so why can't I get the other 40 filled??? I guess I just don't understand????
Was 90 supposed to be enuf for the month? maybe you are taking them to fast. Sometimes it boils down to math. so multiply how many he allows you a day x
a month cause insurance won't pay any sooner
The pharmacy and insurance companies can and will give you a hard time even though the Dr. is okay with it. I had a Dr give me 120 4mg dilaudid and 120 norco at the same time, same day and I did not dare take them to the same pharmacy. Good luck to you,
