Will abuse of Ritalin show up in a urine test

I abused Ritalin snorting about 50 to 60 20mg pills over a 12 hour period, then the next day i was given a random urine test by my pain management doctor which is sent out to a lab. Ive heard that methylphenidate/ritalin wont be detected by most urine test but ive also heard that it will show up as methamphetamines, so i dont know what to believe. All i want to know is will it show up at all and if it does will it show my high levels of ritalin being in my system so the doctors will know i was abusing it. If anyone knows what theyre talking about please answer this question so i know what i should expect at my next visit and perhaps give me a hint as to what i should say because if it does show up, perhaps just proving i have a prescription to ritalin will get me off the hook? any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

If you're being tested @ a pain mgmt. clinic, it will probably show as amphetamine [that's a lot of Ritalin you've been taking!]. I understand that you're nervous & that your opiate prescription may depend on the results. I think you should be honest & tell them you want help -- that it's a legit prescription but that you're having difficulty sticking to your dosage. Besides, even if it didn't show, if you want whatever the clinic is giving you to work for pain, you don't want to be poly-abusing this way as it's counter-productive!

Please, let us know how it goes & best of luck :)

Granted. ..this post went up before I joined...but if its a pain managment specialist...and you are abusing an adhd drug..it looks like a dual diagnosis situation....now I'm no specialist...but I went to a mental health hospital wing and got medicated proporly...society has not realized what most states and the federal gov. Has.You may be medicating with what is at your disposal.
And until america realizes that dual diagnosis for chemical dependency and what underlying problem an addict is medicating...is like getting lupus or diabeties. It's not a fault...its getting by.tell the doc why u used it (besides physical addiction) and find a plan to stop the cycle.they are there to help.
Though some doctors have a bedside manner of a wolverine.then...find a doc for a second opinion...even NA meetings are a start...find out why you used a boatload of ritalin.I have used a lot of ritalin too, boatloads.help is out there.I hope you find grace rather than critics. Good luck Pablo!

i think all the drug tests test for amphetamines and that is what it will show up as.  are you prescribed ritalin??  if you are i would not worry about it. don't think they can test levels in UA.  just whether present or not.

Obviously it depends on what drugs they are testing for. If they are testing for amphetamines and you used Ritalin the  day before, unless the test is botched,  you will test positive. Good luck and I hope to see you back here when you are ready to make a change.

Why are you in pain management?  I would be honest with them as the truth will come out.
