Will pain killers work for pain whilst taking ReVia 50mg to avoid euphoria

I'm a recovering addict, coming up on 6 months clean, and I am going to need to have all my 4 Wisdom teeth removed. So my main concern is that when/if I'm prescribed pain killers I don't want to release a euphoric recall of my addiction to opiates so I'm wondering if Naltrexone 50mg will block the euphoria of the opiates whilst the pain killers still do their pain killing?

I would at least ask an addiction medicine dr. about the suboxone, I do know it blocks the opiates.   I just don't think a dentist is going to have a clue about suboxone.  I would contact someone in addiction through whoever your health care is through and explain the situation and ask their advice.

You are smart bud to not allow yourself to fall back into your addiction or the feelings it gave you.  Many would use the upcoming surgery as an excuse to have to go back and simply blame the Dr. instead of themselves for putting themselves back to square one with opiates.

Great question! And, congrats on being clean and worrying about taking pain meds! I had three wisdom teeth out at once, two of them impacted, and took 800mg Motrin....I was ok. It didn't get rid of the pain all together, but it helped enough that I didnt NEED the narcotics. Also, my dad and brother are totally against painkillers...just think they are not neccessary ( unless cancer, or major pain or whatever) and they both had their wisdom teeth out and took motrin as well...hope that helps.
My fourth wisdom tooth was stuck up in my sinus, and I had to have a surgery in the hospital under general anesthesia to have that removed...for that, I DID take Vicodin the first 48 hours, then Motrin.
I know everyone's pain tolerance is different, so I'm just giving you my opinion, of course, but I think you will be ok with 800 motrin. Good luck, and let us know. And again, congratulations on your sobriety!!! That's awsome.

Matt,  Thanks so much for the question and thanks to all for the responses. This is something I've been very concerned with as well.  I am just tapering off Oxy from my first (and hopefully, only) addiction.  What scares me even more than my current situation is that I am certain to have at least three or four major surgeries yet.  I hope so much not to become addicted again.  So, Matt, best of luck and please let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

About the motrin, I've heard plenty of people not needing to take any pain killers or anything after wisdom teeth removal. The doctor did say that my upper two were in my sinuses so I'm a lil worried after you said that you had to take vicodin. I'm also a baby though like I don't like any pain and if I have anything I have this compulsion to take like 10 tylenols (killer on my liver though) just to not worry about the pain although like 3 would satisfy me. I'll just see what the doctor says, the only thing reason I was looking to the naltrexone is because I have like 300 pills leftover from when I stopped taking them and my doctor kept prescribing them, eh kinda for just in cases.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks again!
