i just found out that my manager is shooting his mouth off about why i got fired......he is not human resources...is this legal?..a few buds from work told me this.......i am burning up inside and it aint the wd's......lawyer?.................a friendly chat with him?.....what to do what to do

I had a mutual parting from my job in an outpatient clinic I now  look back and can see what was going on the HMFIC was a bit*h and talk smack about everyone behind there back I gave up a 4,000 dollar bonus so I did not have to stay there and that is whe she let me go. I told her I would work there until I found somthing else and give the proper notice but she was so pissed that I did not want the bonus she fired me right then so I told her to FU*K OFF and left. my performance was not top notch due to the drugs but I was at 150% productivity ( iwas seeing 3-4 patients at a time) so she wanted me to stay but when I told her that she let me go and talked smack about me but I have so many other referances that I do not need her input.

Sounds like defamation of character. Even if he is telling the truth...if it is harming your reputation, unlike with slander, truth is not a defense for invasion of your privacy. You could sue, but unfortunately, in my line of work, I've learned all too well, that it all depends on the judge & what he had for breakfast.  Sorry about the day you've had...but look on the bright side...when it's this bad it can only go up from here...right???
I think flmagi is right...you're probably just as well to leave it alone & let it die, rather than give this guy any more power...sounds like a schmuck & that in & of itself is probably enough punishment for him=)

If the mgr is not speaking within a legitimate context to only those that have a right to know, then yes, this could be very illegal. But proving it is very difficult. And if he was spouting his mounth about how you were "really canned" for any medical reason including addiction or something as simple as depression he could be toast.

I am not going close to what I feel has any chance at confrontation with anyone in my life right now. I sure don't feel I'd handle it close to smart at this time so trying to use a lil logic here so I don't regret it later. My wife has had a few bad days during  my wds and I just say I luv ya and disappear to my retreat here.  Just wantin to get betterand get on with what I've been missin.

i get fired every other week, that or i quit, but i work for my parents so i always come back. everytime i quit, they miss me and i get a raise. your having quite the day huh
