Tylenol Addiction

Hi, i'm new around here and i'm hoping to that someone here could help me??

I have a slight addiction/dependence on tylenol pm. I started off taking 3 a night in May. I became extremely depressed around July and august and increased my daily dosage to 5 a night. Also whenever i had a severe depressive episode sometimes i would 'half heartly' try to kill myself by taking like 15 tylenols with rum, gin or whisky.

I went on anti depressants and started to feel better again, but i still kept on taking the tylenol pm. Now i take around 7 tylenol pills nightly. I feel i'm addicted to it, there's no way i can't sleep without it. The only problem i'm i feel like my system is breaking down. I  have felt all aches and pains every where especially in my chest area. Sometimes i feel like i'm slowy dying.

Anyways i was just wondering how long will it take for the addictive tylenol use to do some serious damage to my body and insides???

To Grievingwidow :

I think that your comment saying that this post should not be on this forum because it basically isn't important enough. I hope that you realize that ANY drug addiction is just as important as the next. Maybe some have a higher addiction, and what not, but just because its Tylenol that this lady is/was addicted too doesn't mean it shouldn't be on this forum, nor does it mean that it isn't important enough to be on this one. This lady is reaching out for help with this problem and this is an addiction thread, so don't deny her of her, reach out to her.

I think that if you take too much of anything (as far as pills), it is not good for you. There must be something in Tylonal that isn't good for you especially in that amount to make you feel like you do. I use to take a lot of ibuprofen and my chest started to hurt as well. My advise would be to get prescribed some type of sleeping medication that will do the job with just one or 2  instead of taking so many. Ask your doctor to give you something that is non-addictive. Best wishes.

Please seek some professional help......talk this over with your doctor it certainly seems as though you could do something alot safer and better for sleep....good luck

be careful ,thats alot of tylenol to take at once .your not supposed to exceed 4000mg's at most in 1 day.it's really amazing all the different problems so many people have.i wish you well.you really need to address your depression you were talking about, that may help with your sleep

I think the reason that you take the tylenol pm is to help sleep not pain am I right?  If so then you can ditch the tylenol all together and just buy benadryl, that is what is in the tylenol pm that makes you sleep.  Get off the tylenol.

Hi there, as far as your question regarding the amount of Tylenol required to do liver damage, etc -- we are not medical professionals here, that is a question you need to ask your physician.  This forum is mainly used to provide support for those addicted to narcotics.  You may be addicted to Tylenol PM but that is nothing compared to most of the addictions discussed on this forum, so count yourself very very lucky.  Just as IBKleen states, even the thought of suicide is a VERY SERIOUS matter and something else that needs to be discussed with a medical professional or counselor.  I hope you reach out to those in your community that can help you.

Good Luck.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!

I think you are "dependent" on the Tylenol PM, but that is just my opinion.

Honestly, if you have attempted suicide, then you need to seek professional help. It doesn't sound "half heartly" at all. If you are taking 7 of ANYTHING to go to sleep, then it is a problem.

Good Luck. I hope you find help.
