The one thing that did help my aching back and legs during wd's was nice, hot baths. I can't recall how many hours I spent in the tub in the first couple of weeks. I've heard others recommend Epsom salts in the bath, to help draw the toxins from your body. I didn't have any, i just soaked my poor hurting body in hot water and it helped. Another thing that helped is exercise. I know this might sound ridiculous right now, but try to take even a short walk. I know I had to literally force myself outside my house to walk a bit, but I did feel some better after a bit of exercise.
cheers for the response, its nice to know there are people out there who know about these things, cuz the drug workers dealing with me havent got a bloody clue.
I'm a recovering methadone addict. I've only been hanging out here less than a month, but I've noticed a pattern. Lots of folks, me included, trying to get off methadone, seem to post here first on their 8th day. I know that's when I showed up here. It was day 8 for me too, when I wondered if the wd's would ever pass. I think a lot of people assume they'll feel better off methadone in about a week, and wonder why it takes so long to return to "normal". Don't give up now. You're part way there. Just a few more days and you should be feeling a bit better. I know it took me about 2 weeks to feel better. Still only 26 days clean, and have good days and bad days. Hang in there. You can do it.
wow..congrats..methadone is a ***** of a drug..I went cold off it too..you are going to feel bad for at least a couple weeks..it will get better everyday..We are all different but I'd say you'll be close to normal..(whatever that is) in a few weeks time..maybe longer, maybe less..I jumped at 65 mg..Keep on going..you are doing good..
