Can you tell me how you took the clonidine? What doses etc..thanks
I was just like luppy, worked the opposite on me!! IMO if you are taking the right dosage, and getting sleep, i would not worry to much about it...Just make sure that you start reducing the amount, as sleep will become better every day...Also , the melantonin helped me too...But for me the best ws clonodine, and zanaflex...But these need prescriptions, and also have to be carefull taking them...Good luck, and i hope your sleep gets better and better...Everyone needs there sleep to function..
god bless

MELATONIN!!! Had been a miracle for me! U can get it at Wal-Mart. Your body makes it naturally anyways! I was given a bottle of melatonin by my mother I took 3 mgs (I was told you can take up to 9mgs safely) and slept like a BABY! Even thru my worst wds. You don't feel groggy the next day. You actually feel better cuz you got a good nights sleep. AND malitonin is removed by your body when you get into light. Light triggers your body to remove it. And its definately not addictive!
i have seen a few people become dependent on this otc drug, but few and far between, 3 out of thousands, for someone with an addictive personality they can become addicted to motrin, physically and mentally, like they were taking 20 of them a day, addiction is cunning, i remmeber one time meeting a patient who was taking 100 of those white speedy pills you get at the gas station, it was a first for our facility but she was definantly addicted to those things, so i guess yes, its possible to become addicted to the drug in question, but not very common, i definantly needed sleeping aids during detox, i went with something the doctor gave me, the key with anything is to take as directed, i would worry that an otc meds may not be strong enough to relieve detox symptoms, so that can make some people take more than they should.
Yes it does stink to be the person that ends up bouncing off the walls with it and you are looking at her... lol
Benadryl is a great alternative to sleeping pills for a lot of people. The occasional, unlucky person who tries it ends up finding out that instead of a calming effect, it makes them bounce off the walls (would stink to be that person, huh?)
Just be sure you aren't taking TOO much . Really, a typical dose for sleep purposes would be 50mg ONCE NIGHTLY. I wouldn't recommend going higher than that. If you are waking up after initially falling asleep, then you could split the dose up into 2-25 mg tabs..
It's always best to start out lower with anything newer that you're not sure how you will react to, but since you've already tried it, I think that plan will work for you.
Here's wishing you sweet dreams!
you can become reliant on benadryl which is just like being addicted to it. for me it stops working and i find it actually hinders my sleep if i take it for more than a few nights. perhaps some valerian or melatonin would be better or if you are willing to take benzos occasionally try that, but only occasionally. good luck!
Diphenhydramine IS safe to take. I have used it many times durring detox a few times! I have been told by Docs and rehab councilers it is safe. Thank God!!!LOL Nyquill is NOT though, because of the alch. in it. Congrats on the new found freedom, hang in there. As far as the nerves it may take a few months to feel normal, however everyday it gets a little better!!!
