Hey again,

Very happy to see you over the physical suffering.  It is an amazing feeling when you start to feel the symptoms going in the "good" direction.  It gives you some breathing room and lets you know the worst of the physical stuff is over.

I hope you look into some type of aftercare.  I told myself that I didn't need aftercare because I was "special", right??? ha ha  Well, after falling a few times I started going to NA.  I swallowed my pride and did it and it was a good decision, I've found a home.

If you ever start to feel you are losing your battle, look into SOMETHING.  Make yourself a deal that if you use, you will act.  I could have saved myself some additional suffering had I made the same deal.

Really wishing you success and very proud of your..........a week right???  You've done amazing.

Hang in there,

bob

Congratulations! I'm really proud of you and happy for you.

You'll soon be feeling a lot better.

Just one thing.... Have you made absolutely sure that there's no opiates of any kin left in your house, pockets, bag or car?

Take care

Hope you're starting to feel better.

Other things you can try are Valerian Tincture to help you sleep (studies have shown it's as effective as Temazepam) and 5HTP which is a natural amino acid. It calms you down, eases pain and helps you sleep. Both are safe and non-habit forming. You can get them without prescription from herbalists, healthfood shops or order on line (5HTP is expensive but it's worth it.

Drink tonic water to help your legs.

Also, I know this is going to sound stupid, but if you live anywhere near the countryside, I've always found that finding an isolated spot and just sitting down under a tree, or looking out over the sea and listening to the natural sounds around you is very therapeutic.

Do you have anyone with you to provide support?

You're doing great, so keep fighting on.

Thinking of you.

Hey
How are the wd's going?
I just came off an 8 month stint of taking codeine I was taking around 14- 16 tabs at a time and around 5 times a day, I was incredibly addicted, I finally told someone and saw a doctor I tried tapering but it didnt work for me as long as I had those tablets I would finish the bottle.
So I threw them and went cold turkey, I took a week off work and didnt move far from bed.
I had flu symptoms, sweat, dioreah, restless legs, cravings and couldnt sleep, but the good news is the wd's only lasted about a week, I took panadole cold and flu or nurofen to nelp, as it didnt contain codeine, and just tried to sleep it away. I havnt touched it since and im finally feeling free of drugs and feeling back to my normal self again.
It does get easier just stick it out you will be glad you did, this site was an immense help, so stay and talk to us we're all here to help each other.
I hope your doing ok and some of what ive said helped.

HI ....well if im doing my adding right and figuring in the international date line your on day 2 and possibly going on day 3 of this adventure...you have been given some good solid advise already...I try and help with some things that are often left out...first is try and keep a positive attitude wile going threw this it will do more then any single thing you can do to help
I hope your getting some sleep but if not try not to get discouraged you might have to get by on cat naps for the first few days..I found laying on the couch with your eyes closed and some soft music playing in the background very soothing to some really frazzled nerves
it may be the closest thing you get to sleep for the next few days...try a hot soak in the tub..
dont under estimate this therapy you may need several a day to get you by...remember this is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental be ready to fight on both fronts its often the mental that brings you down this is a battle one or lost in one own mind ..and remember the symptoms are only temporary once your threw them you wont be chained to a pill bottle any more...and last but most important aftercare...your addiction dosent just go away because you detoxed...it is a deseise that is treatable with aftercare and this shouldn't be considered optional both A/A and N/A are free and the 12 step programs work if you work them if that is nit a good fit for you try an substance abuse conslor or an addiction therapist but by putting something in place you greatly improve your chances of success I wish you the best of luck...keep posting for support we all want to see you succeed God bless,,,,Gnarly

Shiv~ You should begin to feel better by day 4.   Take as many hot baths as you can. It really helps.  I don't know what over the counter meds you can get there and I wouldn't know the names but be sure you have something for your bowels and upset stomach and cramps.

Drink a lot of fluids: Juices and water.    Try to keep moving with a little mild exercise. I know it's hard but it works!  Also,Vitamins!!!    And minerals:  Calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Vit C and B.

Hey, I was taking the same dose, a little higher on the low end but nevertheless. These are things i did that helped.( I copied this from one of my other posts..lol..I type slow and being lazy.)

First, on late day1 early day 2 i went to see a DR. Like narly said this thing is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental. It is for me anyway. He gave me a script of 15 each of Clonodine 0.1mg and Xanax .25mg. Many people will disagree on the xanax,But for me i think it was a big help. Just tell your DR only to give you enough for the first few days 4-5 maybe. And thats IT.

Then for the physical stuff I used..

RLS "cricket legs" TONIC WATER (i mixed it w/ juice 1/2 and 1/2. I didnt like the taste of it by itself.) BANANAS( for the potassium. I ate at least 2 a day) HYLANDS restful legs and leg cramp( I took these every four hours whether i felt like i needed them or not.)CAL/MAG supplements

SLEEP-- Unfortunately i don't think there is anything that will just knock you out those first few days. I used Advil PM, Melatonin (I waited until i could hardly keep my eyes open to take this one), and Valeran root. I only slept an hour or two at a time those first few days. Also a HOT shower right before i laid down.

BOWEL issues-- In the past i've used Imodium for this. But i read somewhere that if you....For lack of better words "just let it flow" it was better.lol..IDK though. I had no real obligation and was able to do just that.(Drink plenty of gatorade).

HOT AND COLD FLASHES-- I took a HOT shower for both hot and cold If they lasted any length of time. Really seemed to help.

ACHES-- I took just regular Advil. Like the rest of this stuff it wont rid the symptom completely, But it definitely helps make it more bearable

EXERCISE-- (i swam and walked) This i think is key. It helps on more level than one.Even if you dont feel like it. You have to make yourself.

Thomas recipe-- I've tried this alone in the past and never really felt like it helped. The way i took it was to take enough benzos to knock yourself out and in four days wake up and pump yourself full of vitamins. I was never able to take enough benzos to "produce sleep" Thats probably not the attitude to have while doing it.Thats just the way I read it. This time i only used the multi vit. along with the B6. There are many that swear by this recipe though.

I cant say one thing has helped more than another. I looked at it like this. Outside of the Xanax and Clonodine none of this stuff  can hurt me . Just use it all. If you see anything else that might help just try it.(use common sense) . I really think the biggest part of getting through this is having the REAL  want to quit. None of this will help with that. You just have to dig REAL deep and truly want to stop.

Hope this helps Good luck
