Day 6 on Suboxone

Hi everyone!!! Today is my sixth day on sub, and im feeling ok...So far im having some mixed feelings about this drug. I started last wednesday night, after not taking anything for almost 24 hours, so needless to say, i was definitely in some wd's. It made the wd's completely go away!!! since then i have been taking 16 mg per day(8 in the AM 8 in the PM), and i can honestly say that i havent had any physical withdrawal symptoms which is great!!! One of the weird things though is that the night when i started on it, when i was in some bad wd's i started to kind of get emotional, and i started to feel like i was feeling again. But i was feeling horrible physically, so of course i went through with my sub appt. But as soon as i started feeling better physically from the sub, i also feel like i went numb mentally again from it. I liked that feeling like i was getting my feelings and emotions back. So after about the second day i figured that i would just use the sub for detox(maybe like two or three weeks) since originally it was gonna be for maintenence. I see my doctor again tomorrow, and i know she will work with me on whatever route i want to go, but at the same time, im scared that if i get off them too soon, i will relapse!!! I havent had much of a want to take anything since i have been on the sub, but i dont know!!!?? oh and also i have had some bad headaches and sleeping problems since starting the sub, but nothing that some advil and clonidine havent helped!!! sorry for the long post!!!! JP

If You want to get off the Sub in a few weeks thats great. But if you're afraid that you may not be ready, then reduce your dose. Some of the things your feeling (or not feeling?) is probably because of the dose your at. I started out at only 8mgs, now down to 5mgs per day. And i feel really pretty normal. I can cry, angry etc, all the real feelings, and the lower your dose the better off you are. Since you should be past the withdrawels from your drug of choice, there should be no reason not to start dropping down fairly quick to a maintenance dose of 4-6 mgs per day or even 2-4 mgs per day. I think you'll feel a big difference. Check with your doctor though, I'm sure he'll agree. This way you can still get the benifits of the Sub without any opiate numbness, and it'll be alot cheaper too. If you have any other questions , you can PM me anytime. Wait2long is extremely knowledgeable about Sub too.
Good luck.
