Yep, yr libido is up because being addicted to opiates kills your sex drive so in simple terms your body/brain is seeking pleasure/relief and is working get back into balance. This is an extremely common part of the withdrawal process, but will calm down eventually as your brain adjusts to gaining pleasure from the wide range of other "normal" activities as well... I wouldn't worry about it too much, it won't do you any harm, although maybe exercise would be an idea as a way of channeling some of your sexual energy elsewhere if it bothers you? It takes time but eventually things should even out for you.Have you considered safe sex? I've w/drawn from opiates many times in my life and I gotta say, while "hanging out" totally sux, feeling horny again is possibly one of the best aspects of it! Hang in there man, n good luck
The secretion of Endorphins can release sex hormones..
Taking Opiates can deplete the body's natural Endorphins in Nerve Cells.
Long term changes the way nerve cells work in the Brain, (plus more Chems & Neurotransmitters).
Opiates have a effect on the Opiate Receptors.
When Opiates are Stopped the Natural Hormone productions usually kicks back in. Opiates can due damage in the Endocrine system too. Opiates have a negative effect on the Pituitary which sends signals to secrete different hormones, it also plays havoc on the Adrenal which causes so much Fatigue from long use.
SO in the Long run it just takes TIME for all of this up stairs in the Brain to Balance back.
I do know that LOTS of people get really Horney for the first few weeks of detoxing then it seems to calm down..Darn It!!!! hahahha
I hope this helped a bit..lol
Bless
This is very normal. Most people find their sex drive is off the charts once they get through the physical part of detox. Like others have stated, it's just our way of producing endorphins and making ourselves feel good. Essentially we are giving ourselves a natural 'high'. Exercise and certain foods (there's a list at the bottom of the page under health pages) can also really help to increase endorphins and dopamine. So, masturbate, have sex (but be safe!) and know that it's just a normal, healthy part of the healing process. Enjoy!! ;)
thanks guys, i needed to see this for myself, i just cant believe im almost 2 weeks into this and still feeling like the first 3 days, but i can see parchal days are really good, mornings not so much, but i just got back from bike riding 4 miles and ofcorse tired but i feel great, hope it keeps up! ;)
You may want to take some zinc and selenium. Yes it's a very common part of the with withdrawal process. ;) Hang in there and keep going friend, hope this helps ;)
All I know is that myself and another female friend of mine have found that in the dark depths of detoxing I (we) find an insatiable need to masterbate...one that can NOT be satisfied n it is exhausting n again not in anyway pleasurable due to the lack of climaxing.
Nave never heard this from men n only a small number of other women n it sucks. Yes it goes away along w all detox symptoms.
But it's a very real think n consider your self lucky if your just over horny for a couple weeks.
